Hoover Electron 1100 deluxe A3470

Hi folks
This is all new to me but here goes. I have acquired myself a hoover electron 1100 last year. After being the proud owner of an A3350 for a few years it broke down and no-one seemed able to fix it and sadly I let it go. Having missed the machine ever since I came by this later model however it has now started to blow the trip as soon as it is switched on. My a3350 did the same. Does anyone know what might be causing this. The guy that has fixed it for me in the past thinks it needs new brushes but now I am told it is a motor fault and there is nothing that can be done. I am also told that if the bearings need replaced this machine is then scrap as you can no longer get a seal which is required when the bearings are changed. Can anyone help????

Hi Richard and welcome to the forums. It might be the heating element that's causing the problem or indeed it could be the motor. However most problems with Hoover machines are still fixable it's just the repairmen who can't be bother because the machine is too old and they are out of practice so they tell you it's ready for the tip just to get you off their case. I have sent you an email too so that we can discuss your problem further because I might just be able to help.

Before you remove the motor etc

just take a look at the mains filter a silver canister with the mains lead connected to it as these are prone to blowing and unless its full of water it won't be the heater as for the motor lets try narrowing it down and take a look and see if the circuit boards loose as that will throw the trip as soon as its switched on.. All of the above is most likely wrong but worth a look )

thanks guys for the advice. Now all i've ever done is take the back off it and looked in never touched anything or tampered with it. Where do I find the circuit board?

If the "circuit board" you're referring to, is the main function control PCB, from experience of Logics & EcoLogics, they are sited in the base, on the right hand side, when facing the machine, front, door side, it's usually shielded from damage, water, things dropping on it etc, by a metal plate, part of the shell, & a piece of plastic wedged round a screw.[/COLOR]

[COLOR=#0000ff; font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif]I can't remember how easy or hard it was to remove it from its slotted space, as I tore the plastic off, carefully bent the metal plate & gently jiggled the PCB until it popped out.

Unfortunately, that's where my attempted help grinds to a halt, as when I encountered the PCB's of the Logic A3636 I dismantled & the EcoLogic A8582, it was to scrap the machine, but salvage various parts, either for other washer collectors, or for retaining, in case anyone should need them.
