Congatulations on getting a fine dryer.
This model is a single direction 4.5 Kg model realy well built and easy to get parts for if needed, they are so reliable, keep the fluff filter (mounted at the back of the drum) clear and you wont have any problems

Auto sense

The machine has two thermostats on the exhaust, basically as the load drys the exhaust temperature rises, once it hits the higher temperature thermostat this switches off the heating element, so not over drying the load (in theory)
Once the load has cooled down to the lower temperature thermostat setting the heater will come back on and so on, it is a simple system that works reasonably well.

Am I right in saying that the filters (coarse and fine) are the same as in the Bendix 7414 ?

Autosense

Great find this is a great dryer. My mother bought this very dryer new as a matching set with the Hoover electron 1100 energy save washing machine in 1985. When my mum went abroad in 2001 the washing machine still fully working went sadly to the skip but I left a note on it to say fully working. The dryer went upto my brothers flat share in London for a couple of years and then came to me. It was still like brand new and it was only then did I remove the protective plastic from the chrome trim.
The key thing with this dryer was you must turn the timer all the way round and then back to the time required as this "reset" it. If you set a long time it would start off very hot so suitable for cottons if you set a short time it would start cooler for synthetics. If you failed to reset it as described it would start on the cooler setting. As the cycle progressed it reduced the heat so that you didn't overdry. It really did work well and was very solid with porcelain finish drum. The door being flush fitted and no handle just the release button ment the easiest way to open was to turn the timer on a bit and then press the button as the force of air would open the door!! In 2006 I foolishly decided to upgrade to a John Lewis condenser dryer. I freecycled the Hoover dryer and year later it was freecycled again and I emailed the latest owner the instructions to use!! This I think was the about the last production of the really quality Hoover products before the free flights fiasco and before the Hoover family sold the company in 1986.

it arrived today and I have just opened it !
And the corner is all smashed in... how annoying, and it was really well wrapped ...
oh well, the rest of it is absolutely immaculate ! Well chuffed !
