Hey guys, I was using my Electron a few weeks ago, and after about 30 mins, it blew the electricicty, melted the plug, and melted the socket as well.
Anyone any ideas? I have noticed the machine does get very hot when in use, as does the plug.
Perhaps a thermostat problem?

Any info is much appreciated, I'm not good with repairs :/

Hi, From memory they pull a fair bit of current. Could be as you say the main otter toc is at fault and not cutting out (roughly at the top of the heater plate) I would have thought dependent on age they may be a rear stat in the exhaust area that would have at least reduced the heater to one ring (half heat.
Or it may not be the dryer, just a poor plug top / socket connection?

Possibly...

The wire connections in the plug are not sound ....same thing happened to a twinny I was using on a boil wash - the current arced across wires and connections that where lose and corroded, cut the flex and re-wire a new plug with clean cut new wire....then try again , not saying it is this but its one thing to discount!!

let us know how you get on!!

Mike has it right

Look first at the plug and also the socket - it it was an old socket possibly the conectors were worn and it was not making a good connection - we had that many years ago with my Mum's Creda drier. Obviously they are toast now - if you had a single socket replace it with a double so you can leave the drier plugged in all the time (check it occasionally of course) or even better a fused spur unit
