I'm told this is the place to come and ask my questions relating to this 1100.

Washes perfectly but the dryer is no more.

Took lid off, heating element is reading 36 ohm (so what's that, 1.5kW or so, seems ok to me), neither of the thermal cutoffs are open circuit ... so I'm at a bit of a loss as to what else could be causing the dryer to not actually heat up.

Thermostat is an ELTH 263 (three-terminal), which is inline with element. Looks like it's configured like another cutout (spring-laden, with a pin that would presumably open the heating circuit past a certain temperature?)

Any chance someone has a service manual for this beast?

Failing that, is anyone interested in this machine?

Nice machine. I have the earlier A8516 although it’s awaiting repair for a leak. It’s likely to be the thermal overload thermostat located on the blower unit which houses the dryer heater and thermostats - located on the top of the drum. I suspect the thermostat you’ve shown is the water one located on the lower part of the backplate. You might need to check the blower fan is operating correctly as no air flow would cause the unit to overheat and trip the stats. If it’s not working it could be the 2uF capacitor located in the top corner next to the supressor which might need to be replaced due to its age. Should be a cheap ish repair unless the dryer element has failed.

I’ve attached the pages from the service manual so hopefully that helps

Steve

I just realised that thermostat is the dryer one from the top of the outer tub - that monitors the exhaust temperature. Number 72 on the attached diagram is the capacitor for the blower motor
