Well not content with clocking up loads of miles between London, Cambridge and Wiltshire over the weekend, I managed to pick up this Spinarinse from Northampton on Monday. I've been after one of these for a while after our next door neighbour used to use one - she had to wrap a cloth round the outlet spout as it used to leak. Unfortunately it's not working although I've not done the basic check of making sure the fuse is ok!

The workings. You will see that the rubber outlet pipe is totally perished so will need replacing. Also there is a tell tale ring marking the interior of the casing which probably indicates a leak on the pump. There is a lot of old mouse poo inside the casing so I think it's been a home to a couple at some point!

Has anyone got any service information for this that they would be willing to share? I think I know what to do but it makes all the difference having a guide to go by

Steve :)

Hoover SpinaRinse

Well done Steve on saving another classic, as Al says built like a tank, a little restricted to get to as the base has a very good chassis, but once released and swung to the side its easy to work on!! The grey model was the one my nan had, it was called the "Hoover 55" as it was on special offer from "Critchleys Hoover Centre" at the price of - you guessed it £55 guineas...

Thanks for posting this Mike, someday I might get around to having a look at mine, that big chassis is very intimidating though.

I wonder what that curious hose arrangement in reply 19 is for? I have never seen one of those before.

The other thing is that the bridge shown for model 0319 is common enough (this is a piece of plastic which clips on to the RH side of the spinner and LH side of wash tub which, in theory, allows you to transfer wet washing from tub to spinner without all the water running down in between. In theory .......

However, unless I am getting my numbers wrong, surely the 307 is the original single tub with wringer. I did not even think it was the same height as the spinarinse never mind being bridged to it

Wow thanks Mike. Will help loads so might have a go at it this weekend.

I have to say I haven't seen that hose arrangement either and can only assume it was to allow you to mix the temperature when you were filling the tub but that's just my guess. I've got a length of rubber outlet hose which I think was for the hotpoint top loaders where you used plastic elbows to make the hose suit your plumbing so I'm hoping that will work. Will keep you posted

Cheers Steve :)

Hi Steve.

Congratulations on your newly acquired 3004A. Looks in great external fettle too and, with the pages supplied by Mike, will be in fine internal fettle as well!

I haven't the brochure for the 3004A, but do have ones containing the earlier 3004 with the earlier blue enamel lid and dating from 1963.

Enjoy!
Paul
