Well this afternoon I picked up my $20 twin tub.. Was in a very sad state, but the lady insisted she it worked.. Got it home in my 2dr Hatch (what a mission)..

I plugged it in and both motors fired up beautifully!

The Pump I think hasn't been used in a while it didn't want to pump but I only poured 2L into the spin tub hopefully that might loosen it up overnight?

I spent 2 hours with Spray n Wipe & JIF scrubbing it up. Came up quite good for now.
I attached some initial photos as I'm going to inject some good ol' TLC & Elbow Grease into this machine. My goal is to bring it back to the life it deserves, and hopefully get a couple of years out of it.

I put a Project Goal below, and updates.. This will be my first Vintage appliance restoration.. I don't know how to feel. I think Excited/Anxious But cracked a Vodka for now and just trying to make a plan and to enjoy the rest of my evening. Have a good one all.

Project List: (tried to put it in project order too).
1) Try to get current pump to work although i didn't do much testing this evening.
2) Remove the spin Wheel on the base of the machine chassis and sandpaper the rust off and apply some grease or oil.
3) Try remove all rust and patch up rust hole on front (pic attached to post)
4) Remove Pulsator for a good clean / grease.
5) Inspect all seals and replace faulty where applicable.
6) Replace all Belts.
7) Replace Wheels.
8) Test Run.

Good Updates!

Have been extremely busy with work but have been doing some work on the old girl.

Soaked hot water with sunlight soap overnight and pumped some hot water through and got it pumping!
Did a test of 4 loads and went perfectly. Has a very violent wash action this one I can fit 4 towels per load!

Just taken the cover off and done some massive cleaning inside. (pics attached)
Wash belt and spin belt are in great condition, drain pump belt urgently needs replacing. I think this uses a yellow spot belt? (Pinch valve & open from spin can pump.

There are no leaks from anywhere to my surprise! Which is awesome. The Timer looks fairly new.. I put a pic up too.

I also greased the flywheel on the spinner. But i need to know 2 things. Is it safe to grease the motor shaft on the wash motor?, should it be a bit stiff? It seems it but when the belt was removed the pulsator turned freely and so did the motor.

Second, my spinner squeaks as if it needs grease on the resilient carbon spin plate where the bearing is. Is this a fairly simple procedure to remove / grease / replace?

The next big step is rust removal and re-bog and paint!
