Hoover twin tubs

Although a fast wash was achieved unless you did small loads the tangling was a nightmare and I never realised that you were meant to leave things tangled as you spun them as they became less of a pain after rinsing ! Wish I had known that years back when using mine it could have saved a lot of time lol
I have a couple of Hoovermatics in my collection and last weekend got a young washer fan initiated into the world of twin tub washing :)
Often wondered why reversing pulsator was never considered I can only guess it would add to the cost and a lot of folk would have struggled to find the extra as if you were going to pay more for a reversing Hoovermatic you may as well by a Servis or Hotpoint which had a back and forth agitator.

The Monitor we had was 1 way on the agrivator, hand wringer and gravity drain, My next door neighbor as a kid had a Hoover wringer, from Germany and that went 1 way too. The Hoover had a pump and powered wringer but pump and wringer worked at the same time you switched them on. I was fascinated by that machine and the German lettering.

Thrashing about

My Asko front load washer has a bad motor control so it tries to spin when running the wash/rinse cycle, I could say a little bit of thrashing is going on, I'll try to get a video of it for you

Shape of the tub

I imagine that the design of the tub was such that a reversing pulsator would have meant that the load would get stuck in the bottom if it rotated anticlockwise. Rotating clockwise, with the inward angle at the bottom of the right hand side of the tub made the clothes speed up as they rotated. I am sure I have read that the design of the tub was integral to the overall wash action being as effective as it was.
