Hello

I come from the other side (vacuumland) and am in need of some help. Being back and fourth between the two sites I know how knowledgeable you all are!
I have a twin tub machine and I am going to be needing some new parts such as the gasket and bearing under the spin drier, a new or used OEM drain hose and fill hose. I have been looking online but cannot find anything.

hope you guys can help :)

Mike

Parts, no parts...

Hi, unfortunately there are not an abundance of parts for these machines. If I were you, I would assess what it actualy needs to work as opposed to trying to buy every part you can find to restore this. The only real failure point on these machines really is the pump assuming the machine has not been abused in other ways.

More info of your machine would however be helpful, a model number at least, even better a photo or 2. Do you know anything about it's operational status?

Tim

Hello dryclean1 I am in Cortland now, however lived in Greene for about 17 yrs! It would be awesome to talk sometime!!

Tim: I will be able to grab some info tomorrow and as far as operational status, I use the machine weekly. The pump was replaced and I recently disassembled and cleaned it. The rubber donut on the bottom of the spin dryer needs to be replaced as it is starting to crack ( don't know how thick the rubber really is) maybe it is ok I don't know, I'll grab some pics in the afternoon tomorrow. :)

Thanks for the reply!

Spin Tub Rubber

That rubber is pretty tough, but it can break. In my experience it always looks like hell (dry-rotted looking) but I have never had one fail. As far as sources for this part in the US, there are none that I am aware of, someone on the other side of the pond may have a good used one, but that would be the only way to obtain one that I could think of. You could however probably do a pretty decent repair with RTV silicone sealant of it if is simply a crack or pinhole leak. I just checked my 74, it looks flaky but it's still fine.

Rubberbandman

I think it looks normal, this is a Hoover 0510, so it's a mid-60's machine. This machine has a bigger flywheel/pulley than the newer ones, makes for a more balanced spin cycle ("balanced").

I think you're fine, you could periodically check it time to time, but I would expect it to look the same. Hand-warm water in the spinner if you spin-rinse will soften it some during use.
