Yes, have seen both the Hoover and Maytag dryers "out there", my problem is they usually are not near me and sellers will not ship.
Am really trying to find a MIB or at least gently used Hoover or Maytag, as most parts are NLA and hard to find. Least if the unit is somewhat new will have lots of life before problems set in, one hopes. Several members mentioned places that have MIB units, but no one has given details.
Like you don't wish to use these dryers for a daily driver, but more for fluffing up woolens and such as I line dry most of my laundry anyway. Believe it or not these little dryers at 1450 watts pack more heat than today's "compact" dryers by Whilrpool/Kenmore, which only come in at around 1250w IIRC. GE 120v dryers also come in at 1250 watts. Guess someone cracked down on how much juice should be pulled by such units. While 1450 isn't blazing hot, it is better than 1200 watts or so.
As for these sellers of Hoover twinnies with outrageous prices/reserves. I paid less than $30 or there abouts for my practically MIB Hoover twinne. In fact it cost more to ship the thing (via UPS) than actual purchase price. Many of these Maytag and Hoover units being offered for sale have been riden hard and put up wet to dry. For a machine in so-so condition and not much useful life left, these sellers have no shame.
