Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I would suspect it is original. I once saw a marble effect Hotpoint Liberator auto and was told it left the factory like that.

The Hotpoint Supermatic looks truly great - - - seems made of real wood... Extra!
:)
Barcoboy, really hope that you can have the good fortune to get it! Of course, it is a real beauty. Good luck to ya, man! (let us know if you happen to obtain it)
:)

The seller contacted me this morning... already sold. :-(

Oh well, it wasn't really the model I was looking for anyways. I'd like to find a 051x or 061x series (cyan control panel, two control knobs, drain hose out the back), as that was the one I was most familiar with growing up. But I would have taken this one if it was still available!

Barcoboy,

do you remember seeing Hitachi twin tub washers on offer somewhere (early to mid 1970's, not the more recent ones)? I am looking for this baby for years! No luck yet...

My grandma, as well as one of my cousins, had one. Those vintage Hitachi twinnies looked great. I can recall the spinner had an automatic spin brake of some sort and I believe they came with auto rinse function. (btw, can't find any picture)

***If anyone can help locate one of these it would be appreciated very much.***

The only twin tubs I ever saw were all Hoovers. My aunt owned one, a good friend of the family owned two (he had two houses, so had one in each house), and another friend of the family owned one. They all were 051x or 061x models.

I'll certainly let you know unclejohn if I ever come across a Hitachi.
