Hi all. Well the holy grail of washers has arrived here in wales. I picked up my old style Hoover Vision 1600 at last and am just putting it through its paces. Wow what a machine. I will do pics and vidoes as soon as possible. It's an amazing beast. Firstly I'm suprised because it's not made in Wales at the Hoover factory. It's made by Candy in Italy. Its a very strong cabinet with a steel lid thats bolted on with a steel bar at the back. came in handy as it had to be carried down 2.5 flights of stairs. Also the underside of the machine is enclosed unlike current Hoover candys which have nothing underneath at all. and wait for this... it does a 120rpm spin wash with powerjet which is awesome. It only does it once though. The wash action is three speeds and differs through the wash from slow short tumbles to fast long tumbles and then the 120rpm wash. The powerjet is powerful and switches on and off during the wash n rinses.It comes in at 11 o'clock angle The lcd display tells you loads of info and the powersteer control is fab with a huge range of options. water levels are better than expected with lots of splashing but due to the tilted backwards drum they dont reach the door. I haven't tried the high water level option yet. Also you can do a full 1600 spin only which current machines cant like the Hoover Nextra which has an 800 limit. Oh and and the rinses start at 120rpm with powerjet too. Amazing. Why cant more machines be as interesting as this!

I'm looking forward to hearing more about this machine. The powerjet wash system sounds rather like my old Zanussi Jetsystem machine in a way.

What a nifty little machine thought I have never seen one in the metal it still one of my favourites ever!

It looks different without being stupid, love that power steer dial. That in itself would be a fantastic adition to many a machines control panel!

My Hootag (Australian market Maytag front loader made by Hoover), does the spin wash with power jet too. Such a fun machine!

But the "driving-rips" inside the drum (don't know the exact name in English) are made from plastic which is bad quality! Also, I reckon, the outer drum is also plastic - that is the difference in details between MIELE and others....
Designing does not tell anything about quality inside - to me it just dazes and that is what the producer wants!

drum lifters

Well the only thing I can say is Hoover drum lifters are very strong compared to certain other makes. They are screwed in generally rather than just relying on lugs like the Hotpoints and the plastic is tough as were the older hoover machine lifters like the new wave which were also screwed in. Metal tubs have there place in Mieles sure but cheap Servis machines have metal tubs too. Metal has the advantage of surviving coin damage but then can suffer from leaks or weld failures wheras plastic tubs are leak proof being of a single mold but can be holed in a fast spin with loose coin. Swings and roundabouts then really. Anyway, inside the vision quality is good. All bolted in nicely and seems to be well constructed inside. Most parts in the vision are unique to it and are not shared by other Hoover Candy machines so it seems to be a rare machine. It is certainly one of the most entertaining machines i've ever seen operate and that to me is more important than what its made of. Videos to follow Saturday hopefully.

I seem to remember this only uses 35 odd litres on a cotton prog??. I did laugh when Hoover made a fuss about the new slanted front- someone should have reminded them they made the Keymatic over 40 years before!!!

Hi Seamus, yes it uses just 35 litres. I was expecting it to be a bit waterless but it is far from it. Lots of splashing and with the powerjet its really good get lots of water over the glass and rebounding off the clothes. I'ts fun fun fun! I removed the outer plastic door covering too. Can see n hear the water better.

Incidentally you can still buy these brand new on ebay Germany £602 plus delivery to UK or in the UK for about £400 for the white and £500 for the silver but its a German export and no English display. My Hoover Nextra was an export machine with just about any language but English selectable. Took a while to get used to operating. Weird. I'd have thought if your going to have a machine that you can change languages on one of them would be English. lol
