Deja vu here but some of you may remember I replaced the bosch Exceel 1400 washer I had with the hoover vision 8KG model with the powerjet. I was very happy with this machine until a fire struck my house and wrecked the first floor.

I'm currently renting a place that funnily enough had the same bosch Exceel 1400 washer there that I had replaced. My complaints were the same in it had a screechy motor, rinsing was terrible and for a 1400 spin, the clothes didn't come out very dry. So i decided to by the new Hoover vision 9KG washer. I have put the bosch in a cupboard for now and the Hoover will come with me to my house when the reno's are finished...

I'm really really pleased with it. I've now had it nearly two months and the only thing i can nitpick it for is the dumb 1 min wait time after the cycle ends before you can open the door.

It's insanely quiet ( 3 phase invertor motor) and the noise ( or lack of it) from the pump has really impressed me. It's very quiet. The pump does take a few mins to empty the drum after rinsing tho - realise there is a lot of water to get rid of and the drum goes into dist tumble while the drum is emptying so not sure if this is purposely done to aid rinsing.

Like the time manager it allows you to set different wash times. It pre selects the shortest time and you can extend it. Wash times are great. For a full 9kg load of cottons it takes 1.36hr, extending the wash time takes it to 150 or 2.10hr .If a full load isn't washed it seems to calculate the wash time and reduce it line line with the load size etc. When i first got the machine and put it on a cottons cycle without anything in it it started off at 1.36 and within 5 mins had dropped to 45mins The cottons cycle seems to be a pretty robust wash cycle with the drum speed almost hitting dist speed at points and only allowing for a 2 sec stop before turning direction.

The wool cycle is great. In the user manual it says that due to the torque from the new motor it is able to use a pulse technology - it moves the drum a third the way round stops for less than a second, then a third again, then again, then changes direction immediately a third turn the other way without stopping at all. It does this three times and then pauses for a couple mins and then repeats the 6 stage move again. As a result the jumpers are completely turned over but in a very smooth way. it's a lot of fun to see the drum move in such a jerky way!

Rinsing is great and it uses a good level of water, this coupled with fast interim spins has produces really nice fresh laundry. YOu have the option of using sensitive care option with add more water within the wash cycle and adds upto five high level rinses.

what an amazing machine, wow it does use alot of water i love deep rinses, i used to have them on my whirlpool AWM820 and Hoover Electronic 1100 from 1982. my zanussi only does high level rinses on synthetics and delicates but it does the spin rinse on cottons 60

Is this machine of standard outer cabinet size? (60cm x 60cm / 24" square) I'm guessing it must be a bit larger.......

What does the 'Fast Iron' button do? I wonder why Hoover front loaders are not available in North America?

I think that Hoover of America is a different company than Hoover Europe, the EU division is in fact a full subsidiary of Candy.

Yup, what doest the "fast iron" does? Is it like stop with water?

I´m sorry about the fire too, I know how it is! We also had a fire on the 23rd of Decemeber some years ago!

I think the "fast-iron" is one of those easy-cares cycles with a special spincycle!

I remember an user in here, which also had a fire..and he got a similar Hoover..

Another Hoover Vision Owner! They really are great arent they! I still cant get over mine LOL Only thing is Im still not very good at loading it LOL, I always think Ive filled it almost full till it does the first tumble and the drum seems to shrink the load LOL!! Ive just done another big Duvet in mine, You'll be suprised how well they handle them

What is the triangular doorseal protrusion that is visible in the above photos?

It seems to be on every modern machine these days - what is it for?

Is it a manufacturing characteristic/aid, or is it functional to the machine and/or user?

The triangle of fear...lol

Hey rolls,
the triangle on the door seals is designed to push socks and items like sleeves moving round the doorseal back into the drum! High tech bit of kit lol!

is it only when it is heating up?

If i remember rightly with Hoover machines the temperature light only comes on when you press the button above it to manually alter the pre set temperature from the program you've selected.
