I just thought that I would share a few pictures of my latest acquisition from a month ago, thanks must go to Richard for picking this up for me. Its a Washdog from August 1972. When it arrived it was looking and smelling a little bit sorry for itself. I've now got round to giving it a thorough cleaning and have replaced some bits to make it look better. It still wants a few jobs doing, it needs a replacement wash sump hose and fill hose and I need to centre the spin can a bit better. I'll also change the power cable back to the original black from the current grey it's gained sometime in its like. Fortunately I had already got an August 1973 machine that has donated it's top deck as all the printing is intact on this.

Final Question

Does anyone know which is the correct way for the filler nozzle to work? The one off the machine has the metal part of the tube stuck into the plastic bit and the whole lot seems to side up and down in the outer spin can and the one from the spares machine had the metal tube stuck into the spin can and the plastic part slides up and down on this. This is the one I've fitted but now I'm not so sure this is correct.

Hi Ian !! No problem glad to be if assistance! It looks a lot better than it did and I bet it smells better too ! It looks right at home in your kitchen! I have no idea on what goes where with rinse pipe thing I leave that to the experts. What is all that hairy stuff ? The belt ? Was it that bad ? Lol

Yeah all that stuff was the remains of the belt a lot of dust and some dog hair. It was all collected on the chassis down the spin side. It's smelling a lot better now, mind you it took some getting rid of, there was a mat of dog hair and old soap under the hinge end of the spinner lid that smelt decidedly iffy when I got it wet. If I can get the sump hose sorted it should be up and running before too long. I hope!

That was the first time I'd posed it in the kitchen, I must admit I do like the look of it there. Sadly I can't find room to build it a home in there. It's living in the dining room with the others at the moment, I'll have to get round to moving things around before Christmas as I can't get at the table.

I've not got any hose for the filler yet, I'd looked at the modern grey plastic stuff but I don't think it will go through the hole in the back panel with the spinner hose. I might have a look at using some automotive heater hose if I can get some the right size. Still not sure which filler spout I should be using (see above, reply 4).
I also need to make a sump hose up out of the split one that I've got from the other machine. I'm hoping to get it all done for new year.

Looks great compared to when I last saw it. I'm still amazed how well it all worked given its state.

On the filler hose I've attached a picture from the service manual - I'm not 100% sure but I think the end of the hose connects to the plastic spigot on the can with the larger clip and the tube is pushed into the hose so it's flush with the wash deck and secured with the lower smaller clip. That allows you to pull off the nozzle but leave the tube in situ.

You are after the hose with the pressure switch aren't you? I have some spare bits so I can send you one if you email me your address
