In the GE combo last night, I used the recommended amount of DASH (from the late 70's) and got quite a surprise. I was hoping for a nice layer of suds for washing and clear, "drinkable" rinse water, but that's not quite what happened.

Here's the start of the load, towels with 1/2 C DASH, hot water - regular cycle.

NO! This is the end of the first rinse, right before draining. The GE combo does 3 deep rinses with a flush rinse before each one. Although the suds level decreased, they still needed a spin-rinse-spin in a Frigidaire before they could be dried. I will try another load over the weekend to see what the results are starting with 1/2 the recommended amount...stay tuned.

Don't start mixing quite yet Jon ;-)

Very interesting Greg, I wonder if you used warm water if it would make any difference? Terry

Uh-oh!

What if you added a touch of fabric softener in with the reduced amount of detergent?

Greg, that's terrible! Oh, those old GE combos are nothing but trouble, aren't they? You really should get rid of it.

And because I'm such a swell guy, I'll take it off your hands for you. Expect the moving men on Friday ;)

Wait One Cottin' Pickin' Minute

Ummm, yes, BUT that Box of Dash is not like our belovid Dash. By that time the phosphates were gone and the forumula was completely changed. With "normal" dash I bet you could have drank that first rinse water. Try it in the GE combo and see! We must know!

Fun Greg!

Do let us know if you were able to do another test, with the "original" Dash.
How big of a load of towels did you have in the GE Combo?
I love that machine!
Thanks for the pictures.
Brent

Greg, try it in the 55 Kelvinator and if you have the same sudzing problem blame it on the machine and I'll be more than happy to take it off your hands. wink wink... nudge nudge.

Tap, tap, tap...

You just keep tapping mister!

I have a load of towels simlar to the load I did the other day and I'll use 1/2 the amount I used before.

I'll try to get to it tonight, I have to wash towels soon - we're running very low and will resort to 'Rags in a Box' if I wait much longer!

I WOnder IF..........

Could the suds problem have been created by the residue of the OTHER degergents that were not risned out in previous washings? Mark
