Hi,

Can anyone tell me what the water levels should be for the Hotpoint 9534, one of the 9514 series of front loading washing machines? My machine seems to be working well, despite a necessary recent renovation of the programmer, but I know the water level visible in the glass door is lower then it used to be.

Additionally, if anyone knows where I can get an electronic copy of the service manual, I would be interested.

Thanks.

It might be worth cleaning out the pressure vessel. This is a banana shaped vessel fixed by 3 screws near the bottom of the plastic tub. If it is getting silted up with soap residue it could reduce the water levels. You probably need to remove the cabinet front to get at it.

Many thanks, SuperElectronic, 16 litres sounds a good reference point to check.

The machine had a blocked pressure tube many years ago and following the resultant over-filling, and clearing the tube, both the seal and main bearings failed, and so did the motor. I suspect weight and high water level precipitated both failures. You will now understand why I'm quite keen to get the water level as near correct as far as possible.

On a separate note, I notice the programmer switches have a tendency towards 'laziness' causing apparently spurious malfunctioning. This is simply due to white powdery deposits on the steel pivot shaft which is relatively easy to remove and clean. I can provide details if anyone can benefit.

For completeness, I have undertaken a test using the house water meter and can confirm that the 'programme 5' wash cycle of the 9534 used exactly 80 litres, which is 16 litres for each of the 5 'fills'.

Many thanks.
