One of these came into work on Sunday, the owner said it was about 18 month old and had very little use at is came from a holiday home, (I thought 18 months was a good life for a modern Hotpoint :-) )
He said he was not prepared to pay £70.00 call out fee to have it looked at

It is in mint visual condition so I thought I would bring it home and have a look, last night I was thinking bound to be control boards etc...

Tried it out in garage and it lit up selected a spin cycle and off it went, hmm I thought ok ill add water now, did this selected a 30 minute wash and off it went until it came to pumping out time, very slooowwwwww it was.

Got the filter out and it was bunged up with one of the offending bra pads in the picture..........put it back and on it went until the next pump out..........same again....... take out filter and low and behold another of the buggers! put filter back in and completed cycle no problems.

Then I did a 60o whites wash with 5 heavy-duty double sheets, no problems at all.........

So I can only conclude that this guy has dumped a working machine for the sake of £70.00 and two bra pads...........

Now I have always liked the look of these machines and now I have tried it I am going to get rid of my Bosch Exxcel 1400, which has never impressed me and put this one in the kitchen at home.

Hotpoint
Good points:
Will wash a quilt (apparently)
Door opens as soon as programme has finished (no bloody time delay interlock)
Quiet motor
Reasonable rinse levels

Bad Points:
Noisy cheap pump (as usual)
Mediocre build quality (no worse than the Bosch though)
Spin balance is a bit fussy
Comparatively noisy when letting water in

But as time progresses I will form other opinions good or bad.

Bra pads mess

Definitely the Aqualtis is not the proper washer for Samantha Fox *LOL*

No bras here!

Well at least it will never suffer that trouble again in your household Gary :) You can only wonder at some people's stupidity in not even checking the filter. Still, his loss in your gain, so good on ya mate, it IS a nice looking machine.

Why do you not like the Bosch? It looks reasonably TOL to my uneducated eye, I would have expected reasonable performance.

AND whats the story about the Hoover AS1 then? Looks like a cracker - if you threaded that before just reference the thread and I can check from there.

Padded Bras

well it just goes to prove that padded bras a bad thing and can bring a modern high tech washer to its end........

AL
The bosch is not a bad machine but it is nothing special in what it does, cottons wash programmes are a joke, too long and too little water, the only programmes i used on this machine were the "easy care" for cottons, up to to 60o temp option, higher wash levels and shorter wash times if you added all the extra options, (about 1 hour 35 mins)
Mixed load again higher wash levels and shorter wash times
And the quick wash occasionally,
The rinse levels on this machine are hopeless, way to low.
The spin balance system was quick and worked well, again it is fitted with a modern noisy cheap magnetic pump.

Now lets talk about your beautiful Electrolux restoration, that is a machine and a half! ;-)

Hoover AS1

AL

Now we are talking real machines :-)

Ibe had that some time and have been slowly restoring it visually and mechanically.........its almost done now

And yes what a cracker of a machine, the distri/drain is top!..........straight into 82 rpm, the washing is plastered to the drum instantly and water goes everywhere until it has pumped out, then onto the spin..........the programmer is a real noisy click, whirrr, moan one, it is brilliant to listen too

Being a budget machine it has no fabric conditioner compartment!, Hoover went to the trouble of blanking of the moulding for it!!!, can you beleive that, maybe Hoover thought that the poor people who bought this machine coudnt have afforded fabric conditioner :-) so you have to add conditioner yourself.

But it is a great machine in the Hoover tradition

hey

good acquisition, plus free of charge.

They have a nice big drum, nice programmes and i like the aqualtis models from hotpoints range.

Didn't think the Bosch would be going, but i haven't used a bosch in many years so don't know a thing or two...

wish you many years of good service from the hotpoint, lets hope it proves to be faithful.

take care

Oh My

Well I wasnt expecting that!!! wow just goes to show what people get rid of before sorting out a simple repair, not that ur complaining...LOl

Good machines, have put a few through their paces, 4th generation of them now!!!looking forward to hearing all about it..

Ohhh, I do hope there`s no oil leaking out of that poor Burco twinny stood standing upside down next to it!!! Hhmmmm..!!!

Cheers, Mike

Aqualtis is not the proper washer for Samantha Fox *LOL*

Those may be fake, but they're under the skin! She was such a fox back in the day. I have not seen her lately.

Hotpoint-OK for that one.

Sam foxes Silicon T..S

Well if her padding came out it would make for one awful mess!.....these days asfar as i know she is now living with her manager...ess............yes having gotten into god for a few years she then decides she is a lesbian..........but that hasn't re-kindled her career..........

OH MY Burco

Dont worry Mike any oil in that machine left it years ago :-).........speaking of which by the time you collect this machine it will be a pile of rust :-).........coff coff :-)

hotpoint 95622

Nice find, I hope this will be the start of a beautiful relationship.
You can’t beat a Hotpoint; well you can with a big stick when it plays up.

Deffo shows the somewhat lazy and fickle nature of people today, in writing a young and not very cheap machine off like that. In very nice looking condition as well - still, it should be, being so young.

As others have said, to your gain and more fool the owner for not having the patience to get it checked over.

Always liked the styling of the Aqualtis' or should it be Aqualti?, though know very little about their performance, so you will have to let me know what you think.

Hope all's well.

I put stuff like that in a net bag before it goes in the washer. I also have a thing called a bra buddy that I have used so much that it is being held together with safety pins(Walmart stopped selling them). I bought the net(lingerie bag) at Dollar Tree 3/$1 but are poor quality. No problems with thing getting sucked into the pump. You knew what to look for and got a great deal on a washer, Congrats!!!

Bosch Sensitive cycle

Hi Gary, have you tried it ?
there's a vid on youtube where a Logixx 8 on "sensitive" makes 4 high level rinses like "old school" machines

Here it is :
