NEAT FINDS!

They made the hotplate with one 8 inch and one 6 inch element, too. I remember these things at lunch counters and in restaurant supply houses. Three heats: High Med & Low. The new deep fryers advertised below the Hotpoint are surprisingly reasonable in price. The Deep Fryer was available in the Hotpoint modular builtins as an undercounter unit that rose when the door was opened. I think the unit that went into the deep well was a better solution for most homes, especially when you consider ventilation.

As for the surface rust on Chrome, it pretty much wrecks it.

That's interesting they would sell that fryer for home use. It seems it would take too much oil to fill. Not to mention the mess it would make and as you say with no ventilation system. Typically this type of fryer would need to be under an exhaust hood with a fire extinguishing system. I suppose back then there probably were no such systems anyway.

These weren't sold for home use!  These were for lunch counters etc... Just because they've surfaced on Ebay doesn't mean anything about their intended use!  i have the Hotpoint catalog for these items.  All were 220 V.

I didn't say they were, Tom said they were available in the Hotpoint built ins for home use.

Being 240 Volt Does Not Preclude Their Being for Home Use

We have an ad that surfaces here, I think it's here, that shows a Hotpoint kitchen and there is one of these in a below counter cabinet that can rise to be used, much like those under counter cabinet lifts for mixers. I did not dream it and wondered when I first saw it what kind of  entertaining would require one of these and what kind of ventilation one of these would require in a domestic kitchen. That's why I wrote that the modular two unit cooktop with the deepwell and the plug behind it for the Golden Calrod Deep Fryer seemed a better fit for most kitchens and most families.
