Hotpoint Dryer

Nice older model, would probably match the 'Lady Executive' washer. Seller claims it's Almond, but it clearly shows shading on the edges, so this predates Almond. Most likely Harvest.

I don't think it is, Phil. Others might know better, but I'm not aware of Hotpoints having the lighted control panels by the time this dryer was built.

It looks like a lighted panel to me. The door handle looks just like the ones used on GE refrigerators of the mid '60's.

I don't see a panel light switch anywhere, unless it goes on when the dryer starts and goes off when done? I see a logo on the right top of the panel - that wouldn't double as a push on/push off light switch, maybe? I'd like to see the matching washer.

Nope, no lighted panels on Hotpoints after they became GE clones.  I was so hoping there was a panel light on my TOL Hotpoint but, no luck.  (pic)

 

This is a probably a little later HP dryer of this style-run, probably  '76-78.  They changed from the large, round timer knobs to the blade type knob handle.  This made it a little easier to grab and turn (with wet hands as CR used to say) but it lost a little of it's glamour.

No these machines had no lighted controls. Looks like their was a place for them but they didnt want to be bothered. When we moved to a new place in 1977 my family got the TOL line Hotpoints like the washer above except it had a back open lid. And the super capacity dryer with the real large round open door.
Even though the older Hotpoints with solid tubs washed well and were nice they were problem some machines. I really liked the rim flow machines better than the filter flows.

I think GE had also stopped putting lights on the control panels of their own brand by this time. Don't remember seeing them after the very early 70's.
