I have a 1953 Hotpoint Supreme refrigerator.
My wife was cleaning it and broke the little plastic gray cylinder off of the freezer light switch mechanism.
I was able to get the metal flange off. But the wires inside do not pull out.
There is a front plastic "collar" piece around the front of the freezer compartment which is secured by screws. But this front piece is also secured by clips on the inside. So it does not come off simply by removing the screws. But if there is a way to get the clips off then it should be easy to access the switch.
I would appreciate any recommendations anyone might have on how to do this repair.
