Farewell to the home of the New Generations!

Saw it this evening, just before i left for the train home. what a real shame.

Congratulations to Kinmel Park on producing a fantastic range of machines which offered affordability and reliability.

Servis - Creda - Hoover and now Hotpoint!

What on earth is left?

In a tribute to Hotpoint, this year me and Rob will aim to:

remotor the 9560 Microprofile 1300 De Luxe
restore the 95360 Electronic Super Plus
and
aim to do something else - which is a secret for the time being!

How the tables turn too when out of the cluster of 10 houses in the street I grew up in 6 Houses chose Hotpoint:

9534 (possibly still going - would love to know and also to know if they still have the Colston Commodore it replaced in their garden shed)

95459 (replaced with a Bosch WF??? 900rpm thing)

9520 (Still Going)

9575 (Possibly still going)

9934 replaced with a WM62 (Funnily the hosue next door to us had the same washer as us at one point)

9537 (Moved away with them)

Which left our other side neighbours with a Zanussi Washcraft, Us with the Electrolux, NDB2 with a round door Bendix and the corner house with a grey panel Zanussi.

I wonder just how many houses out of 10 chose Hotpoint now?

This is a sickening day. I visited that factory in 1997. It was amazing. Thank you hotpoint for being the first machine i sat infront of as a nipper. & delighting me with many memories throughout the years. I've had about 10 hotpoints machines in my collecting years & growing up!

Though one thing i'm glad to say no longer will indesit be able to tarnish your name with made in great britain.

LOADS of my school friends had 95series machines when i was a kid. Including me! Gah. What is the future for whitegoods. I ask ya. What are we going to do when we can no longer get spares for our classic machines?!

Thanks again hotpoint.

Darren

Sad Day indeed

A very sad for you guys...sorry to hear about this.

Well...Australia no longer has a whitegoods industry either: Fisher & Paykel have clsoed their plants and Electrolux closed the Simpson plant back in 2006...very sad!

Cheers
Leon
