I just had to find out, so I threw some 110v on one side of the unit simulating half a hookup and played around... This has the rotisserie option, but lacks the spit; but it works! And the temp probe registers, oven starts to warm, etc.

Dig these buttons! I can only imagine once I get the panel apart and cleaned...BTW, they did a great job with the "Gourmet Guide", when you flip it up, just that flap illuminates via slits to the main fluorescent light.

BTW, we hooked up the pink Hotpoint Customline tonight and it runs so silently, you'd think the compressor stopped. And...it still gets cold! Why would someone run that off to Lowes??

I went to college in Iowa City, and you can find some AMAZING stuff in that part of the world, but that stove is particularly cool!

Cory- Really smart to try the 110v stuff out by hooking up one hot leg.

When I worked for Sears sellign appliances, they told Whirlpool to make all stoves with ALL the (110v)accessories on ONE hot leg so the stores can do just what you did- hook up to 110V to get everything functioning but heat!

I wonder what voltage those new "ovens/warmers in drawer" found in both gas self/cleaners and ectric stoves are- I would assume the gas stove have 110 volt elements. And probably to avoid duplicate inventory of parts the electric ones are the same - 110v-.Wonder if this 110v part is on the same hot leg as the bells and whistles.

BTW my Whirpool uses 220v pilot lights to indicate surface units "ON". Avoids need for a neutal wire to be extended. Your vintage Hotpoint must use 110v.

Are the surface unit indicators one bulb for each surface unit with a shutter/flap that opens when the button is pressed in? I cant imagine a neon lamp behind each temp.

Oh and when did neon pilot lights come-out?, LOL maybe I should say "appear" LOL.

Oh I forgot to ask--- What is the "Super-matic", and is that a guide of some kind for it on the flip up panel shows at the top of the backsplash?

Toggle, the Super-Matic (how descriptive is that name!) is the front right burner that not only is one of those "infinite heat" units where you select the exact temp and it maintains it, but also concentrates heat at the push of one of three buttons for 4", 6" and 8" pots! The flip-up guide on top is pretty handy, it has explanations of how to operate the key features.

About those buttons, I just had to investigate the other night. You'll notice one philips screw at the bottom of both key panels. You pull the panel, and there are two C7 bulbs, one for each row. Besides each button having an internal color filter that pops into the light path, each buttons also completes the circuit to turn the bulb on so it only comes on if a button is engaged. There's also a neon in this panel too, a soft orange circle next to the oven selector whenever the Bake/Broiler is on. Cool!

Neat stove! That had to be a TOL model in it's day! The thing I was thinking Kenmore was that I could walk up to it, throw a time in it, and have it start cranking out Rock-n-roll!

I always liked that type of switching & element that expands to three different sizes!

I went to college in Seward, probably about 70 miles west of you along I-80. My apartment was 2/3 of the 1st floor of a victorian house that had been converted sometime in the 1960's. I was out there from 1997 til the end of December 1999.
I had almost the identical stove in my Seward apartment.
My landlord owned lots of apartments, full of stuff like that.
Wish I had known about you back when I was out there!
