Hotpoint Whisper Clean, well it wont clean. Had the exact model and was terrible.
Also if it is the the comparable GE models, it whispers like a freight train. we had the GE model.
The back wall of the tub is the back of the machine; a single thickness.
Mike, no this model couldn't compare to your moms GE Potscrupper. Tim, I had the next model up Hotpoint "Potwasher" that came with my 1984 circa house. I had it from January 1986 until I couldn't stand it any longer (I had had a lower end PotScubber in my previous house for 10 months) and ran circles around the Hotpoint. It got resplaced with the GE GSD1200.

These were a dishwasher in name only. loud.
Have seen hundreds of these models (and lower) in apartments, condos and new construction tract homes. The GE/Hotpoint distributor here must have made some great deals, they were far and away more common than Whirlpool, etc. appliances in builder/maintenance applications until the 1990's. The largest appliance retailer here also moved Hotpoint stuff by the train-load, more black panel washers and dryers than you could shake a stick at for years at estate sales. They were the quintessential ho-hum sets until the direct-drive from WP became the ho-hum 'standard'.
