Hotpoint Spin can bellows/seal

Hello there, Trying to fix my t5090 Hoovermatic. I need a new bellow seal and bearing set. I have cleaned up the seal, it looks like there are no splits in the rubber, but it seems to be leaking between the con rod and bearing. I have found a vintage hotpoint bellow seal, could I use this on a hoovermatic? Not sure if the bearing part is with it though. Thanks Rebecca.

sorry to say but the Hotpoint bellow seal won't fit your machine, I probably have a used seal I can have a look for at some point, work is just mad hours at the moment, so can't promise anything these few weeks. If the rubber part you can see looks ok and the leak is coming through the bearing, then the seal which is on the inside above the bearing may just need cleaning up or glueing into the bellow with sealant.

I'll get back in touch if I can find the part.

Another idea would be to keep an eye out for a hoover spin dryer, basically the spin half of the twin tub, one of these would offer up spare parts.

Just a thought

Dear Rebeca only a thought as I had a very similar problem with a hoovermatic a few months ago . Have you stripped the spinner down and examined the lower part of the spin can that provides the counterface seal the the spin resilient mount . Under the spin can on my machine is a silver coloured cloaking that goes over the drive shaft and seats under the spinner can . This provides the counterface to the rubber mount . You can see the difference in the metal colours easily . Under the collar is a rubber washer that provides a seal between the two surfaces . . Because my machines are generally quiet old ladies the rubber o ring had pertished and water was leaking between the two components . It’ looked like it was the resilient mount when in fact it was this pesky o ring seal really easy to fix as cleaned with a wire brush all items and reassembled with silicone . Worked fine . Worth a strip down and looking at . Not sure which model yours is ???
