Not sure if most people are aware that hotpoint have issued a safety annoucement on the national news. I bought mine in Jan 2011 and it's one of the ones possibly affected. A few of my friends Indesit dryers have been affected.

Has anyone else's on here been affected?
Thankfully in summer this year I moved mine into the summer house from my spare room

Hotpoint / Indesit / Creda Tumble Dryer Recall

If you have purchased any of the above dryers from 2004 - 2015 then take your dryer model and serial number, enter it onto the websiste page and you will be informed if you need to contact the relevant service department. A few guys on FB have models that are affected.

I've just taken the top off my dryer to have a look and the bottom of the dryer is about two or three inches deep in fluff. Now I'm one of these people that are pretty strict with cleaning the filter after every load. Sometimes in between when I'm checking so goodness knows what some of them are like

Having dryer replaced

Nine years ago, a kind relative gave us a new Creda TVR2 as a moving in gift. It is one of the affected dryers. I registered my details with Indesit on Sunday and was called Wednesday. Apparently, it cannot be modified and so a new machine will be delivered next week.

What's causing the problems in the air system?

Hi ,these vented tumble dryers work on positive pressure i.e. the hot air is forced into the drum by a fan .This model range have a very poor front drum seal that can allow air and lint to be blown into the cabinet where it settles in the base . This lint can then be sucked into the air stream where it passes over the heating element which is an open ribon wound type construction ,ignites , blows into drum, ignites laundry, fire accelerated by more air forced into drum. On most of these dryers ive seen the only thing stopping more lint escaping is the the build of lint on the front felt seal sealing the gap. Its very strange that this problem has been known about in the trade for years but it takes the takeover by Whirlpool for some action to be taken. Regards Nige.

I've given up waiting for hotpoint to call me back. I've taken mine apart and for almost five years of daily use it wasn't as bad as I thought. There was a thin layer of lint etc on the bottom of the dryer and a lot around the not so good seal.
Definitely keeping the filter clean as much as I do has helped.

Mine is affected too. I'm waiting for Hotpoint to contact me to arrange a repair. Does anyone know what the repair consists of?

They did say it could take up to 5 weeks to get in touch because of the volume of repairs needed. Is there any way i can request a replacement? I've always been cautious when it comes to dryers but if the trust has gone then there's little you can do...
