HOTPOINT Ultima "FINAL SPIN"

I've had my Hotpoint Ultima WMD690P 8KG 1600 for about 6 years now.
In that time I've only had one minor repair & that was to a small circuit baord at the back near the motor.
Other than that it has worked perfectly, but as time has gone on I've noticed that the final spin is taking so long now. Sometimes up to 20 minutes to complete the cycle as it just wont balance itself.
I hate that its tumbles so fast when trying to redistribute the load & doesn't do it slow enough or has reverse action in between building the speed up to 1600rpm.
This action can go on & on & on & the longest it has taken is "25 MINUTES!!!"
I sometimes pause the wash & take the clothes out to redistribute it myself.
Does anyone else have this problem & is it just with this line of models or with older & newer ones?
Anyway that this problem can be solved short of buying a new washing machine? lol

I had an Aqualtis and that was a b**ch for balancing loads, it would abort altogether some times, and I found all the faffing about annoying like you.

Sorry I cannot give you any advice as I got rid of it

I had the ultima from the range before this a WT960G and the counterweights had come loose and was a fault it too took 20 minutes to balance. Hotpoint came out and rectified this but it was still shyt at balancing.

Thankfully the newest range have adapted the "balancing act" it slows down on the redistribution tumbles and usually spin first time. My WMUD962P was flawless.

New machine is one way!

But today, there are sometimes even worse machines.
Any washer with a tub 70l big or even more has problems. Our Panasonic for example: You could wash 3/4 of a tub without a flaw. Less than ½ of more than ¾, and it was a pain. It sometimes got sloved by splitting the load in 2 washing bags and throw them in or switch over to the AEG.
But maybe the shocks are worn. This could cause oversensitiv behaviour.
Washers I heared of being good at balancing have been AEG (at least for the smaller models I can confirm) and Non-W1 style Mieles.
But I recognized some washers getting stuck in an endles loop. For example, our Bauknecht sometimes turns of the pump and rebalances over and over, no matter how good the load was distributed. Solution: Have you tried turning it on and off again? (Who gets the quote?)
So, shocks or loop of balancing. You could check that! Or buy a new machine.

I find my Hotpoint (nearly a year old now) is a lot better at Balancing (thanks to it doing a longer initial build up than simply launching to distribute), its usually a first time and go, however when it does do its balance trash, which is pretty similar to the old models, just slightly longer tumble before relaunching it can take a while, I've noticed after several minutes though, it spins unbalanced, and just gets on with it! Seems just as sturdy, if not more stable than the old WM31 even when unbalanced.
Maybe try pausing it and starting again, see if that helps. I know on mine if I pause during balance trash, it starts the longer initial build up to distribute again!

Another Tip: If its a small load it'll take longer to balance, and if its a large bulky load with many large items, they can tangle together, and also take a while to balance, makesure large and small items are loaded together and the drum is loosely loaded full.
