HOTPOINT ULTIMA'S

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

colours

yes they should both be the same Graphite colour but the washer is more of a bronze colour, & well spotted yes the dryer is taller than the washer. If you adjust the feet of the washer to the same height as the dryer this makes the control panel of the washer higher than the dryer panel. This is a very bad mistake made by Indesit on the high end ultima range, what has happened to quality control.

A friend of mine has a Aquarius + washing machine and aquarius condensor dryer which don't match at all. The dryer is about 2cm taller and the "Hotpoint" font is bigger on the dryer than on the washer. Do you think matching sets are more common in the states? You rarely see people with matching sets in the uk i think...

Oops...

Arnt these the new 9kg dryers...Lol, the 8kgs match,

Its everything about them, no symetry at all, fascias & plinths at different heights, IF the colour was right then they would look better stacked!!!

Somebodys head will roll for this....

"You rarely see people with matching sets in the uk i think..", do you think??

You see more now unless people just want a cheapo dryer, or in certain models the vented models wouldnt match certain models, thats the one thing I dont like about the Zugs - the symetry doesnt totally match unlike the Askos

I do agree it would drive me nuts as well....LOl

I think the reason you dont see many matching sets is because not every household has the space for a washing machine and tumble dryer in the same room in the UK. I know personally i did buy a matching Gorenje black washing machine and tumble dryer set but due to how the house is setup having them both in the kitchen was not practical. Now the washer is downstairs but the dryer is upstairs

Condensed Water Collection Drawer

Hi Jon, this model is an air cooled condenser dryer, the water is condensed in a filter box in the base and water is then collected in a tray and pumped up to this drawer tray where you can simply pull out and tip it down the drain, you can also use a pipe to drain into a standpipe in some models!!

Heres an instruction book for a similar model which shows the working components!!

I agree, it probably is down to space. Your lucky in the UK if you have a utility room so must people seem to have them squeezed into a kitchen or in the garage. Lets face it most people (present company excluded) wouldn't be bothered about owning a matching set thats out of view in the garage. Our Aeg washer and dryer matched perfectly standing next to eachother in the garage. My mums Siemens duo kinda match but it bothers me that the dryer is a higher spec IQ300 model and the washer is IQ100 spec. I often go through fases of wanting a Hotpoint washer and dryer but then i see things like this and it reminds me why i shouldn't. Mike i know what you mean about the Zanussi machines. The dryers don't match the washers at all. Same with AEG unless you buy a condensor. Hoover Machines don't match either not that i would ever buy one. Its only really the good old German manufactures Miele and BSH machines that do match.

Well actually, If you adjust the feet, the washer will be higher, as will the panel. But as the way its been designed, the drawer part of the washer & dryer is much deeper anyway, so it actually is the same height in the not as tall bit, and they both are the same height, so hardly any manufacture error. The silver is also exactly the same colour, just different lights change them, plus as you say, people won't really look that close!
Can I ask you to take a photo of the inside of the dryer drum? Is it a wave drum design or smooth drum design - I can see there is a anti-age lifter. Can 9KG really fit in the dryer? If its the same size as my TVF770, then you can't get 7.5KG in without a gap to allow movement, so how you would get 9KG it it I don't know, so is it a different drum? Plus the drums the same size my former 6KG dryer.
Would be nice to know!

*Sigh* Another reason for people to pick at the Indesit Company. Admittidly it is bad. I own a white Hotpoint WMUD962P & it is fantastic!

I can assure you from experience the internal Quality is miles better.

Hotpoint have always had issues with the consistency of the graphite.

I used to notice it all the time when i used to work for comet and other independants and would unbox and put graphites eitherside of each other and it would be obvious.

That's pre indesit involvement too!!

Darren

One thing that annoys me about my Zanussis is that the 7kg writing is written as "7Kg" on the dryer and "7kg" on the washer! Also, the spacing isn't the same so I get really annoyed!

colours

Mat,

I can assure you that the colours are a completely different shade & it has nothing to do with certain light conditions also the feel of the metals are different. The washer has a smooth feel but the dryer has more of a grainy feel to it, the same as the graphite future refrigeration range. All the insides of the dryers now have the new wave pattern drums & lifters in them now.

@optima

Now you mention it, I see the difference from the picture now!.
I presume the dryer is made in the UK still, so older Graphite washers may also have the grainy feel?
Do you think they will ever address this fault? (I presume not)

Do the vented dryers also have the wave print?

Thanks for getting back to me!

They Look Nice Though!

They look nice seen individually... I wouldn't mind keeping them in separate rooms! Who am I to talk anyway... my washer and my dryer look abysmally different although they share the same room :-P

If I'd seen this picture without knowing where it came from, I would assume that the lighting was playing a little trick, but of course, as these pictures have been taken by yourself, it's clear that the colour match leaves much to be desired.

However, as for the other elements of the mismatch mentioned along this thread, I can't honestly agree... we can't expect these 2 machines to look the same, they are different appliances after all. Although some of you suggested that’s a rare thing to have matching appliances in the UK, I have seen some British kitchens with all matching appliances, from the dishwasher to the fridge and the laundry units... by and large, we can hardly say that a fridge or a dishwasher must have a porthole glassed door to match the washer (although, I'm sure if this increased sales it would be taken into consideration by manufacturers LOL).

Last little thing... I've always thought that the bodyshell of a washer and that of a dryer were identical, but looking at these 2, I've realized that the ridge of the bodyshell around the doorframe is thicker and chafed on the dryer and on the washer it's almost integrated with the door. Perhaps they're really determined to emphasize the difference between these 2 structures :-)

I have experience of using a washing machine from this range, the model being the WMUD942G which is a really good washing machine.

Regarding the graphite colour, hotpoint does state in their brochures that the graphite colour may vary a little from machine to machine. Its a bit like when buying wallpaper, a roll from a different batch will have a slioghtly different shade.

We have a graphite Hotpoint ultima gas cooker (HUG61G), dishwasher (FDD912G), and fridge/freezer(FFA91G). The shades are slightly different however it doesn't bother us. We also have a Hotpoint ultima tumble dryer CTD80P which is not in the kitchen so the colour isn't an issue. We were planning on getting the hotpoint ultima WMD967G (8kg, 1600rpm spin with steam) but opted for the LG instead, although the colour is silver and not graphite it doesn't bother us.

Personally I wouldn't be picky about these factors, they seem to be much better than the few previous ranges of hotpoint washing machines and dryers so an improvement surely is a good sign.

Well done indesit company! :)

Indesit Company does state that the graphite colour may vary a little but this is rather more than a little. To see it in the showroom it looks far worse than from the pictures i have taken. I just find it a bit strange because indesit company seem to get the colours correct when it comes to hotpoint dishwashers, dryers & future refrigeration but have failed badly on this top of the range ultima model. I wonder how many more of these have left the factory in this horrible colour.

"I often go through fases of wanting a Hotpoint washer a

Please dont let this put you off, it happens with other manufacturers as well....the Hoover Black range where a nightmare, we sold more sets than single units and it was on a wing and a prayer when you came to unpack them!!!

I`m sure they will sort this issue out colourwise, its the contours of the styling like the bow front area around the door and the wave of the fascia, left like that it will never match side by side , but stacked it will look better....

IMHO the current range of washing machines and dryers from Hotpoint are by far the best made and most sturdy, and I`ll state my case, as I`ve done for the last 5 years, - they are far better than the WM series (as much as I love them, and they where made here) pound per pound you cant get better service, delivery, installation, removal and a series of after care options that better many german options...
