Hi guys i was wondering would anyone help because i picked up an early or mid 90's Hotpoint washer the model # is WLW1500BBLAD anyways when i got it the agitator cap was missing and the agitator won't stay in place it keeps floating and it don't move very well when clothes are in it,So would anyone tell me where i could get a replacement agitator or help me fix my problem to rig it for now till i can get a new one.

Hi! Corey, does the Agitator have a Bolt in the center? That is to hold down the Agitator, onto the Shaft/Post. I would think that is why the Agitator won't stay in place, unless the Bolt is there and possibly stripped, not holding the Agitator in place. I would think that you can get a new Agitator Cap through either GE or the Repair Clinic Parts Departments.
Since you've got the Model Number listed, someone else might happen to have a spare Agitator Cap, they could work something out with you to get from them.

Hi and thanks for your help.No it doesn't have a bolt and neither a cap but i did look on repair clinic for one and i thought about maybe getting a new agitator but it was priced too high but who knows.if you can find out anymore about the problem let me know.

GE and Hotpoint (GE clone) agitators, both old and new, don't use bolts or screw caps. Instead it's a press-fit agitator. Check the condition of the agitator shaft, as well as the condition of the removeable spline on the inside of the agitator. You might need to replace that one.
When you remove the agitator, do you see the bare metal at the end of the agitate shaft? If all you see is a small vaned rubber thing, then the removeable agitator spline is stuck on the agitate shaft, which is most likely the problem. It's supposed to stay in the agitator when the agitator is removed.

Hi Austin and thanks i did see a vaned rubber thing at it is pretty worn out and i thought a bolt and a cap held everything down but i was messing around with it today and i noticed the rubber part was holding it down but who ever had it before me didn't know that,They had driven nails around the top of the agitator and kinda stripped the plastic and it isn't holding on or grasping the vaned rubber part.So i'm gonna call around to see if they have another rubber part for that and see if that will fix my problem other than that it is a good machine no leaks or nothing,So thank you all for your help.

A girl I went to grade school with lived with a Whirlpool dryer whose door was held up/closed with a baseball bat. A friend of mine had a WP dryer with a screen door latch to hold the door closed... A $2 part would have fixed both machines.
