I had forgotten all about the term "chop," which I learned during a vacation stay on Martha's Vineyard.  Another one was "hole," which was inappropriately applied to various island locales by the four of us who were sharing a beach house . . .

 

Thanks for the memories!  It's a one-of-a-kind destination that hope I can visit again someday.
