a revolting thought..
But probably true. My grandmother and aunts would have had a stroke at the thought of that sort of slovenly waste. My grandmother grew up extremely poor, and even though we weren't poor, she never forgot what it was to be hungry, and made sure we all knew the value of food and not a scrap went to waste in her kitchen.
I thought it was common sense that everyone knew, until I met my first mother in law, a hoarder with a fridge full of spoiling food and mold. She just kept buying more and more, far more than she needed, and then letting it spoil.
