We've had a small Danby dishwasher unit at work for a while and I've wanted to find a full sized unit. Came across this monster on CL in central NJ and picked it up for nothing but time and effort - completely free!

KDC-60 (custom, BOL?) Serial 222248392. Any idea on her birthday?

Missing our cutlery basket, but no matter, I have a spare from an old D&M. Unicoupler was removed by the previous owner, which is ok since we are semi-permanently attaching too. Wheels were missing, and we removed the handle to drop our counter top on her head.

So far, so good. Miss the rinse-aid dispenser.

Didn't somebody else here just snag a built-in of this same model within the past couple of weeks? 

 

Yours is a nice machine and looks to be in beautiful shape.
 
There is

Solid Jet-Dry. It comes in little plastic baskets that are clipped to a corner of the upper rack. It may be harder to find, but most Wal*Marts have them.

Otherwise, nice score!

Yes Ralph, there have been a few of this era Kitchenaids found recently, I picked up a KDP-20 Patrician, someone just recently posted a KDI-20 Imperial, and I swear someone mentioned picking up a KDS-20 Superba too.
 
Thanks guys! I stumbled across the solid JetDry on Amazon the other day, so I'll pick some up. If I ever find the parts to install a dispenser that would be pretty cool. Is it electric?

The racks are pretty decent. I want to grab some of that touch up stuff to protect some minor nicks before it gets bad, but overall its in great shape.

The machine is pretty awesome for our needs, and verges on overkill. I plan to run some computer keyboards soon to see how it does on those - I take mine home and clean it in the dishwasher every year or so.

We've run a few loads so far, and other than the roar, the machine is awesome. The old Danby worked well, even connected to the cold main, since it had only a few quarts of water to heat. The KA is properly connected to the hot water lines–you can see the faucet on the right side of the first pic. Our trough sink has 3 faucets, and we rigged it to connect through the one thats covered by the counter anyway. Just have to run the hot water for a few mins to bring it up from the boiler.

I might take you up on that silverware basket at some point, Eddie. No rush or anything.
 
Parts is Parts

Eric, I have tons of silverware baskets as well as a few extrra rinse dispensers. The wiring should already be in the door for it. Check by removing the front panel and you will see the wires there. Also, when and if you install the dispenser or even if you dont, you may consider putting some unfaced insulation in the door and then putting the front panel back on so it quiets it down a bit.
Let me know if you want to buy the parts,which will be reasonable for sure!

Coffee cups, the brew basket and carafes from the coffee maker, lunch plates, soup bowls, flatware, everything from our holiday party, also small plastic parts, keyboards. And pretty much anything else we might need to clean.

I might be parting out a KDS 18. So if the Racks are bad, I might be able to get you some newer ones. Let me know if you need anything else. So, my next trip to NJ, we'll meet somewhere. And that should be within the next 2 weeks. I think I may have a Rinse Dispenser as well. I've always heard about washing a keyboard in the DW. Does it work ? Really ? That's pretty cool and CONGRATS on acquiring it... free is ALWAYS good!   How often do you run it, or have you had it long enough to run it more then once?

 

Yes... washing keyboards, what is the reason for this?   How do you go about it?   Do you remove the keys first?   Do you turn off the heated dry?   Would this be for keyboards on it's last leg anyway?

We run it about once a day. Nice keyboards get taken apart, cheap keyboards just get run and shaken out, and then dropped on the radiator to dry.

I wouldn't do it with any keyboard I really liked. We're a school district, lots of fingers touch a keyboard, and they get grody.
 
parts don't equal parts..sometimes

Eddie, the 18 series used a solenoid activated rinse aid dispenser and is backwards compatible more or less to the 14 series. The 19 and up series used a dispenser with a bimetal actuator that raised a stopper which then dribbled the solution into the machine.These worked the same way the bimetal soap dispenser strips worked using the amp draw from the pump motor (or in some cases, the water heater amp draw) to operate the detergent dispensers.
Also, the 19-23 series used a single opening in the tank to fill and dispense the liquid. Other than that, many parts would be interchangeable between yhour 18 and the newer machines, until you get to the 21 and up series pumps.
 
Nice Machine

The "Energy Saver V" models did not have heated dry.  That was in my opinion, not one of their better ideas. But safe for keyboards..
