Hello all, I wasn’t able to find any old threads regarding this but I was wondering exactly how you can determine a machines exact age by the model or serial number, it’s always confused me the exact way you can determine it as many people have given me many pointers. I’m a bit new to this.

This is a machine I recently just bought and love to death, but cannot figure out what year it’s from.

I’ll attach the model and serial in the photos. If anyone knows, I’d appreciate it. Thanks

here you go :)

Brand: Whirlpool
Type: Washing Machine
Country: USA
Model: LSR7233EQ0
Serial: CF3746309
According to the serial number this product may have been manufactured in Clyde, OH, September of 1996.

Model numbers are coded for the year of market introduction.  The date code repeats on a 19-yr cycle.  Position of the date code and other syntax of the model number may vary to avoid repetition.
LSR7233EQ0
E = 1996
Q = white
0 = engineering revision

Serial numbers are coded for the year and week of manufacture (and the production location).  First letter (or two in some cases) is the factory ID.  Old syntax has the first half and 2nd half of the serial swapped in position.  Early coding used only numbers which caused a repeat every 10 years.  Letters were added in 1990 to increase the repetition cycle which is now on a 30-yr cycle.
CF3746309
F37 = 1996 37th week (Sept 9-13)
C = Clyde, OH
