I've been doing it wrong the whole time!

Why am I wasting my time making tailored suits and delicate embroideries?

When I can make a purse that looks like a plastic drawstring trashbag and sell it for twice the price!

Sweatpants are banned from my wardrobe!

There is nothing NOTHING like a well-tailored suit, period! No substitutions, exchanges, or refunds!

I think EVERYONE should own a well tailored outfit, a good watch, and a good pen. Everyone should also learn how to care for said things.

It's not what you wear so much as how you wear it. I take pride in my appearance and I wish more people did the same. When I want to look really good, I'll put on a suit, a starched and ironed shirt, and a tie (bow or regular, they're all real in my wardrobe). I'll polish my shoes and go out looking like a million bucks.

Unfortunately, these efforts so often fall upon uncaring eyes. I'm single and well experienced at being single (not that I'm bitter or anything) but I've found that dressing well, no matter how much I love it, is rarely a trait valued by women close to my age.

Damn the sweatpants, damn the drawstring, and just for the heck of it, damn Crocks too! You can have my starched shirts, my silk ties, and my tailored suits when H@!! freezes over.

I feel better now,
Dave

Women have been brainwashed. That's all there is to it. They don't see the benefit of a well dressed, clean cut man.

They're much more interested in the unshowered, messy hair, three-day stubble and wrinkly t-shirt guy.

I applaud your efforts though. I also care very much about my appearance. Even a trivial trip to the store requires special attention to dress. I almost always wear a hat out as well. (and not a baseball cap. That doesn't count as proper headwear.) I feel nobody wears hats as much as they should.

I went to an old friend's wedding last year and of course, I dressed to the nines. Almost better dressed than the wedding party. I feel that any important gathering such as a wedding requires your best. I was appauled to see faded blue jeans, striped polo shirts and FLIP FLOPS!

Appropriate

I agree with you guys. Along the sewing lines, awhile back went in a sewing machine store. The manager had on a dirty tee shirt, jeans and flip flops. Why yes sure, I'll buy your $7000.00 sewing machine! What the heck was he thinking. The place is now out of business. I was only buying some thread that day, but how hard is it to dress business casual? My thought would be dress appropriate to the situation you are in.

I like being well dressed, though maybe I don't do it as much as I should. Styles change over time, but I still love looking at a well put together woman. But even for the gals, it looks like nylons are on the way out as well. Sort of that finishing touch to a nice outfit.

I dont appreciate men (or women) in sweatpants, no undies.

If I wanted to see a pednulum swinging I'd get a grandfather clock.

If you are going to be nude, be nude, if you are going to be dressed, be dressed!

Perhaps I'm old fashioned, but I prefer to be showered, shaved and have the bed made BEFORE breakfast. As mother always said, show some respect to the family and at the table.

And speaking of respect when you come to visit me and you know me well, take your shoes off and don't touch my walls! You are nto 5 years old, and should know by now that touching walls dirties them. They are there to support the roof, not you!

A bad pic of me.

I'm the one on the right with 2 friends a few years ago at a swing dance.

Seersucker suit with braces, straw boater hat, and a real bow tie. Ironically, I can be cooler and more comfortable in a seersucker suit than I can be in thick khaki pants and a polo shirt. Seersucker is designed to be cool and practical, and it still does that job admirably.

Wear your best and wear it well, often,
Dave

Notyme!!

Not only no but HELL no. I remember the times in Houston, growing up, BEFORE air conditoining. My dad wore a suite, complete with fadora, every day until it was no longer the style!! He was miserable. And my mom and sisters, putting on those damn gloves to go to church or what not they were all relieved when it was no longer mandatory for a female to wear a suit, hat and gloves all the time while out!!! Me, I tell people ya outghta be glad I put on clothes. I'm glad I got involved with the computer industry. I worse a suit for the first 7 days of me starting the working world. (It's what my dad still had to wear). On the 7th day two female employees told me to lose the suits and just wear nice slacks and a nice casual shirt--all which I had plenty of. I was so glad, even my tailored suits felt too confining. And if I had to dress like that all the time, I'd never have any laundry, 85% would have to go to the cleaners--very imppractical for someone who cannot drive after dark--going to or from the cleaners after work & such. And iron? HAH!! It's calle press care in the dryer, but that's rare. Everything gets hung up while dryer is tumbling. I don't mind doing laundry, but I formulated in my head long ago ironing was for sissies. I only saw women doing it. NO THANK YOU!!! On the other side of the coin, I do have some decorum. I will not wear sweats anywhere beyond the boundaries of my own yard. Just not "proper". Same with jersey shorts. I work in a medical/education environment. Finally attire guidelines have been relaxed all, for the sake of reducing transmission of flue germs and such with long sleeve, coats, and ties. I won't wear a tie and as God as my witness, will never have to in my employment. They don't make shirt collars big enough to deal with me leaning over trying to read something sitting at my desk. But I do tire seeing grown adults (doctors in training) wearing flip--flops when they're not going to be seeing patients. Flip-flops and bare feet in public places such as this are just too gross in my books. I dread the day when I'll be so old, it won't be seemly for me to wear long shorts, even, in the summer to run errands and such!! I odn't even like wearing heavy or confining coats in the winter. I'll take one along, but the coat comes off once I get ready to get in the car. Hmm, maybe I'll retire to a clothing optional bear environment!!

Hmph,

Such unseemly and trashy looking clothes! A complete waste of money. Thru the week I'm a shorts and t-shirt guy as much as possible, but when I go out on the weekend, or on Sunday I make sure I'm well dressed, Sunday being strictly formal wear, by my own choice.
