I am about to replace my old refrigerator that isn't working any longer. I am wondering if anyone knows the best way of disposing of the old one. I have seen many people would dispose of a refrigerator the same way as normal trash. But I have learned that it's not the proper way to dispose of as the refrigerator contains a lot of gases and other stuff.
I am sure there will be an appliance recycling outfit in Toronto but I thought I would run it past the good folks here to see if anyone has an idea of best practice related to fridge disposal.
If I get no response then I would be happy to call bin rental company ( http://www.redbins.ca/toronto/ ) and ask them to collect it from my area. Hope that will be good.

Waiting for your suggestions!

Junkyard around here but even then TECHNICALLY refrigerant is supposed to be drained/recovered. Most take them no questions asked.

your local municipality should have some direction for you.

The city dump here will take them for $40 if you drop them off at their sorting facility.

We charge $25 to take old fridges when we deliver new fridges.

Most appliance dealers will have some way of handling it as well.

Also, scrappers always want them. Post it on facebook free for pickup, you haul, as is and I'm sure someone will take it.
