Replacing the cord was a breeze once I figured it out! And the strain relief slid on perfectly, so it doesn't look like a replacement from the back...

Most of the scratches came out with a Mr. Clean "Magic Eraser"; it surprised me that not a whole lot came through the paint.

Convertibles are very VERY easy to work on, and sometimes it doesen't matter what year they are from. From the beginning to the end of line, many of the parts are interchangable.

Great job Austin! Looks factory fresh and ready to beat, as it sweeps, as it cleans. Wonderful color combinations too. We will have you seriously into vacuums before long.

austin, HI!, im david. a convertible with a replacement bag is STILL MUCH better than a plastic vacuum NEW. it SUCKS that maytag is starting to discontinue the parts. if the motor bearing and agitator were lubed, this convertible youve shown us could easily stand up to a hard days work for prolly another 30 years!!

Austin...great job on the Hoover 1020...that is a very regal work horse you have there. It will work for you for years to come. It looks so different all cleaned up...a good show piece. I am just so happy that another old Hoover is living happily out there still cleaning carpet!!!
