How to drain/winterize a Maytag A612 Washer

I just went and picked up my new (to me) Maytag A612 washer. We loaded it laying on its back in the back of my 4Runner. As we loaded it in, a lot of water poured out of the hot and cold water inlets at the rear of the machine. Obviously, there was still some water left in it.

I thought maybe I was hearing a bit of water sloshing around in it as I was driving home but maybe that went away towards the end of the drive. The machine is still in the back of the 4Runner where it will probably stay for the next couple days until I can get help loading it into my garage where it will stay for a couple months before I take it out to my cabin where it will be put into service.

I'm in Canada and it's winter here so it's below freezing outside where the 4Runner is parked. I also don't heat the garage so I need to make sure the machine is adequately drained to avoid things freezing and splitting while it's being stored. Is laying the machine down on its back sufficient to drain the machine for now? Is there anything else I should do?

It should be fine especially laying on its back as no water will be sitting in the water pump.

What we do here in the same freezing climate where it is -12 now with wind chill to -35 is use RV antifreeze in drains and in the bottom of a washer and dishwasher, set to drain and shut off quickly as long as you know it went thru to the pump. Run hot water thru first thing in the spring and you're good to go. But let that 612 warm up good before you even think of starting it. There will always be extra water as any washer with the drain hose from the top has a siphon break.
