There is not nearly enough water in the machine, especially for a load like towels, if it had been filled to the proper level roll over would have been fine.
By the way, in the opening video its a wondre he was not pulling rags out of the machine after 30 minutes agigation, 12 would have been about right, 15 min tops
For someone with solar panels for hot water and or generating electric this machine would cost nearly nil to run. One could do boil washes to heart's content.

Never have seen this guy's vids before. He gives a very thorough instructional video of the operation. I visited a friend in England who had one of these (along with many other models). It's a very good machine - the split wringer is modeled after that of the Maytag. I was told Hotpoint UK had permission to use the patent from Maytag, but not sure if that's true.

If forced to chose would take Hotpoint "Empress" over Hoovermatic any day of week.
Yes, there are issues with using a mangle, but addition of a spin dryer would solve most if not all.
