How we pick our screen names

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

The son of my neighbors where I used to live in the Laurentians baptized me the weekend I got my Kelvinator range and refrigerator set. I went to their house to beg the help of Jake, his dad, when he announced "Hey Dad, it's that crazy turquoise dude." I guess it fits!

panthera

Is the family of a group of large cats I greatly admire.

I would have liked to have used my real name, but shortly before I signed up for AW.org, there was a nasty explosion of queenly discord on the other collector's sight.

Since I have been active in Applianceville for many, many years, this didn't surprise me. The attempts at reprisal which accompanied that blow up did, however. Even tho' I was not involved, I decided to create a screen persona which would be true to one of my loves - cats - yet include countries and 'traceable' ipo's and 'real life' names which were sufficiently red hearing to protect me.

If I had it all to do again, I'd choose 'Pank Thumper'. She's thumping away right now, cleaning a load within an inch of their lives. Never saw a TL which came close to her thorough cleaning and made such happy noises doing it.

I guess mine takes little rocket science either. Kenmore-Guy (duh) and I was born in 64, thus the 'lacking imagination' screen name.

If I knew at the time I registered that I'd get into this site and make some friends here, I'd have been a little more inventive and used something like 'AbsolutelyKrazyKenmoreDude' or something.

Since I really can't decided which brand of automatic washers I like the best, because I like them all. I also have an email address ibm.typewriter.freak, I decided to make it automatic washer freak (I'm a little freaky too).

My screenname has nothing to do with washers, but it was a name I already used before I joined the first washer related Yahoo group. Aloysius is the teddybear in Brideshead Revisited, a wonderful British TV-series from the early 80's. I wanted to use the name Aloysius but that one was already occupied. So it became for aloysius. Here's a picture of Aloysius with Sebastian and Charles.

Saltysam

My grandpa always called me Sam for some reason.....and I'm kind of known to have a "mouth" on me at times.....hence the name Saltysam........Saltysam is also the name of our male gray tabby cat....

ProgramComputer

1. As I stated in a prior thread my grandmother had a 1963 set of LBB 30 Westinghouses that werent the Program Computer models but still had lighted panels and were still the old slant front design, but with the newer horizontal innards.

2. When I was in my late teens, their was very nice NOS I believe set of the 1959 Program Computer Westinghouse Laundromats in a sort of mini museum in a storage warehouse of the appliance store where I grew up that was a HUGE pusher of Westinghouse Appliances during the 1940's thru the 1970's and White Westinghouse until they closed. They had all the multicolored buttons, on the swing out panel, and were that champagney brown, with woodgrain trim along the front. That set still gives pleasant dreams.

And the fact that I was, and stil to a point am a very big fan of older Westinghouse washers.

Hence the name ProgramComputer

Wow Guys what interesting storys

Trully interesting storys here....................
To rocketwarriors reply I`m not shure where the large solid rimmed wheels come from that I have. However I seen simular wheels on a older tank sprayer, and a highwheel mower. Heres a photo I took this morning still have those unusual wheels 33 years later!!!.The 4 bolts and holes in the wheel o the left is where I attached the dryer pulley.
I have to say I admire rocketwarrior`s creativity on his costume. Looks like he used a ELECTROLUX vacuum cleaner as the rocket

ALDSPINBOY

It was a laundromat around the corner in Germantown, Mt. Airy, on Emlen St. (in Philadelphia in the late 60's, for me, 70's & early 80's before they shut down) that I used to play and watch washers for years. They had a large row of G.E. TURQUOISE washers with all the filter flo lint hats sitting on the lids. I used to love to see that, and machines were raised so my grandmother used to lift me up to watch them on the ledge, I got my bearings and peaked in the washer and got my face WET from the flo of the water in the filter flo . . . lol. So..... there was a front load washer in the corner a semi automatic which had a long plastic table that you could slide the laundry from the washer down to the extractor and the spinner had a crest that was named ALDSPIN. When they closed and tore the building down they had all the washers and the extractor outside and I took off the crest which is aluminum and now it is in my collection. I miss using the machine because I used to wash for this lady for $15.00 and did her whites one day in the semi front load washer one wash, three rinses, and drain. Open the washer door slide the wet clothes down into the extractor; it had instructions on a round lid which is funny three small pics of a lady with lovely nails . . . lol. . . arranging clothes around the basket and I did just that with the white clothes and this lady came up to me and said "This child can wash! I never saw such nice clean clothes and how you have those clothes perfectly in the basket". She proceeded to get other people to look at it, I was . . . well . . . very happy about that! The spinner was 25 cents for 4 minutes probably 1700 rpm. It had a gap in the lid to look in . . . hehe . . . I was nine years old ALDSPINBOY Darren K

Chuck - Gocartwasher - wheels

Love those wheels. Awesome.

Er, for the reoord, it is not a "costume" --- It is a uniform. See link.

Taker care.

GoCartWasher - now, about the steering

If you don't mind, I am interested in the steering. I presume the front wheels were on a solid/through axle, but what/how did you fashion the steering geer? I grew up in a body shop and salvage yard. My brother and I had an advantage, we made our first go cart in the mid 60's by removing the body from an old BMW Isetta. I flipped it end over end on a county road (at age 15) and survived.

Chuck , steering

Yikes! I just looked closer at your first post. Am I seeing a rope or cable system instead of a steering wheel? Like old soap box street carts???? Love it. Just love it!

My screen name came about when my co-worker had the name of Sanworker, so I had to come up with a name that was unique
and long enough that it could not be copied with a number at the end since it is very long under MSN standards.
So being careful and being somewhat cleaver, it takes a team to keep New York clean,
so Clean Team of New York emerged and here I am. CleanteamofNY.

I chose my screen name because I am an X-ray Tech. And if there was one thing other than positioning skills from Miss Judy was to be proud of being an ARRT Registered tech and I use my credentials R.T.(R) after my name on everything I sign
