Unsecured net-enabled devices are becoming a huge problem. When they are exposed to the Internet, they are easily exploited by botnets. I read a news article last week where one Eastern European spammer was claiming that his botnet had control of 6 million devices. Many devices have been found lately to be running an insecure version of SSH (secure shell), the patch for which was released over a decade ago.
