Toggles, your soldiers are already getting screwed. And ours, please the gods, are pulling out this coming year.
To be serious for a moment, I hope every single person with one of those "support our troops" stickers on their cars is donating time and services to the wounded and the families of the soldiers. That would be real patriotism, especially considering that services to military families have been cut back and, unbelievably, the VA mess is even worse today than before the scandal broke. Instead of forbidding garbage disposals in the name of sacrifice.

Stupidest thing I've ever heard of. If your disposer breaks, just drive to Durham or Cary or any other close by town and buy a new one - how do they expect to enforce this ban? The resources it would take would be better put toward upgrading their treatment plants.

Environmentalists!

When did environmentalists stop loving the earth and really just start hating people? I don't understand. These people don't seem to realize that the way to save the environment to develop RAPIDLY.

Wealthy societies, such as the USA and Japan, use less than half the energy per capita per unit of work produced (say, by manufacturing)than poor ones such as Indonesia or China. And they can afford antipollution devices.

Additionally, developing industry in space - which can only be done by wealthy societies - is another great way to reduce damage on earth.

For decades....

New York City banned garbage disposals....and for decades, I had one!! A spiffy KitchenAid Superba with the Wham Jam Breaker feature. Best damned garbage disposal ever built. Like some convoluted council of imbicils are going to stop people from doing what the hell they want in their own homes. Give me a break!
