Hunting for a Lady Kenmore avocado dryer to replace one with what appears to have a broken timer. Model 77490400. The set is my Mom's in El Paso and she wants to fix it or replace it with the same model. A big wish since the part is not available. Best I can offer is to buy a white one and paint it green. Please email [email protected] with any leads. The washer is still working. Thanks!

Correct...when I plugged it in at the Sears website,it added the '110' digits. So it would be 110-77490400. Below is a look-alike. I will see if I can post a pic of the actual dryer.

Here are a couple of pics of the actual avocado dryer that Mom wants to repair, but if it is true that it is the timer, I may be out of luck. I can't find a timer for the 110-77490400 dryer. At first she would push the start button and it would start but quickly shut off. Now it won't do anything when pushed.

I'll be calling a couple of repair places today to see if I can get them over there for a 2nd opinion. Some parts are still available, but pricy and scarce.

That's a 1974 model I do believe.  I don't blame your mom at all for wanting to keep the set going!!!   The look-alike picture you posted is possibly a 1967-1969 model.

Sears just confirmed it is a 1987 model, but the only thing they can offer is a $107 motor. I have another company going to check it out Monday. I have a feeling I'm looking at a large paper-weight. I appreciate the feedback.

I hate to be honest, but Sears is very wrong.  It's a 1974 model.  There's a couple of guys here who might have part(s) you need.

Appnut is right, of course.  No way that's a 1987 model.  These are someone else's pics of an avocado matching washer and a pair in white.  1974 was the last version of the pushbutton/keyboard belt-drive Lady Kenmore washer.

problem is that most service people today won't be interested in honestly trying to fix this dryer because of its age. Pretty much all functioning parts except the control are still available and should be for some time. In my experience this was one of the best performing dryers ever made. Find a "real" service tech that can diagnose the motor circuit. Not just a parts changer that will tell you it's too old and parts are not available.

What if?

The one little thing that could cause this glitch is the door switch, it's a shot in the dark but your's may be worn out!

Wow...crisis averted. I asked my Sis, who lives with Mom,to clean out the duct and everywhere else she can stick the vac hose into and that got it going again! I had a guy lined up for a Monday visit too. Thanks everyone for the feedback. I will keep this site on hand for the next emergency. Made our 82 year old Mom very happy with the outcome.

1974 LKM Dryer

It is likley an electronic control problem, Edward had it right in post # 11 & 12.

I have had the same dryer for over 25 years as my main dryer and the Electronic control has acted up once and I replaced it, it is now NLA but it is easy to remove and you may be able to send it out for rebuilding.

Cleaning the vent etc is always a good thing to do but it did not have anything to do with the dryer not starting properly, keep your fingers crossed, you have at least a 50/50 chance it will act up again soon.
