Pick this up for six bucks at the thift store looks new. I boiled water in it to test it. Works great. Gonna try to fry chicken in it next week.

Epixstar, your fryer does look brand new.  These were sold at Walmart in the 1970's .  We had the brushed aluminum model.   Our's had no light bulb at the signal area, you could see the glow of the heating element. They work well enough.  They are slow to recover  the temperature you have selected after dropping the fry basket.  We always had better luck with smaller batches.  The Presto "Fry Daddy" iirc, came along  after these as the "popular" deep fryer along with the little "Presto burger".
