Yeah I just picked up a 71 Hotpoint in Immaculate shape. Its really neat in the sense the tub is hard mounted and does not move with the basket! i think its neat as heck...but I work on modern units. (ECBS FRONT LOADERS You know new junk) And i havent seen one of these before. Mind you i am only 21 and have a huge intrest in the machines..Who on here is a HOTPOINT Expert! I could use some help with the rebuild on her. Parts Advise ETC! I Can trade for work on newer units or Lawn and garden equipment Cars trucks ETC. Hope someone can point me in the right direct for this hot point. I can take pics apon request. Not sure what yall wanna see. It spins idk of if ADJ. I just quick tested it at sears to see if the motor still worked..LOL

Thanks a bunch

well thats good to know.

Yeah i figured. So its as old as me :p my wirlpool is a 91 to. That thing is a tank. So i take it now i am in the wrong forum LOL. So is there anything i should know about this. I have never worked on a unit like this. I have worked on the suspension type GE units Never this hard mount. From what i read on this forum that GE made this drive system for over 35 years!. So what are somethings i should look for on this bugger? Is she worth fixing up? If not do you need parts LOL. As far as i know it does not work. I havent tryed it yet i have only had it for a week and i had to make the Frankenpool (my 91 whirlpool with a 2004 Kenmore Catalis Tub the one with the tub ring fill moded to work in my 91) so havent played with it. I also have a 82 Kenmore. Its drive units the same as my Grandmas 57. o.O

that is well worth fixing up-unlike some other washers, all repairs on filter flo GEs and rimflo hotpoints are easy and parts very avalible;worse thing that happens with these is the tubs can develop rust holes-all depends on the porcelain job the factory did on the tub that day,the water used, and usage of machine-my '81 very "high miles"filterflo has no tub rust, but my far lower miles '80 rimflo hotpoint has a couple tiny rust holes in the tub...Besides effective washing, these washers are delightfully loud in operation.

I would first recommend replacing the hose that has been removed, then add some water to the tub and check for leaks. If there is no leaks, check to see if it will pump it out. If that works, fill'er up and see if it agitates. They are fairly noisy, and have a clunk as as tye brake engages that will make you jump out of your skin, but they are fabulous washers, and with that agitator, can be stuffed and still have great turnover. Good luck! (I'm only 20 btw)
