Ok...I bought the 'new' KA Superba on ebay..(see link below)..I made arrangements to pick it up in person after paying on paypal..I should of looked inside it before they put it in my car so when I get it home it has a rusty top rack, hard water residue and does not work...hardly the 'New' condition they stated in the ad...(I have contacted to seller before reporting them to ebay) I am using rerack on the to rack and am scrubbing the tub. The outside looks great, except for minor scuffing on the outer panels..and it does not work...no lights, no clicking..not a thing...since I am probably going to get stuck with this one...any ideas on why there is nothing happening when I plug it in?

Open A Case With Ebay/PayPal At Once

Then wait for the seller to get back to you.

There is a finite time frame for starting action and once it runs out you are out of luck. Some sellers will drag you along with promises just to keep a case from being opened until it is too late.

I never trust a word sellers with <50 feedback say, period. Good thing you paid via PayPal then picked up the unit. Getting a full or partial refund from a cash transaction can be difficult.

I Think....

You may indeed be "stuck" with it, but I think you will also get a refund. The discrepancy between the listing and the actual merchandise received is so outrageous that eBay will take matters in hand.

My prediction is that this seller will refund and tell you "just keep the machine."

WHAT A SHAME!

It really is a shame what people will claim to be a a new machine. And they paid over a grand for it???

I hope you get your claim settled right away

I have a 22 series that would put that one to shame and I should even have a like new top rack for it as well. The one in it has some developing rust on it but that seemed to be endemic with the racks

Score one for the good guys!

Glad you got to win in this case. Sometimes we are not so lucky.

If you have decent water quality or a softener, the scale inside the machine will come off naturally as you use the machine so you may not have to use any elbow grease or harsh chemicals. If you have no luck finding a rack, let me know and maybe we can work something out. Maybe Eddie Toploader55 has a rack from his 18 that he is looking to part out too. It may even have the larger arm like your rack or you can swap them out and make it work.

You GO!

got a full refund

Other than the cost of a 360 mile round trip from Pittsburgh to Sandusky Ohio in a rainstorm...I have a 'free' dishwasher.....now to find a decent upper rack!

I usually hate to say "I told you so," but this time I'm happy to say it:

"Told you so!"

I learned the hard way!!

I "traded" stoves with someone a few years ago, he had a supposedly nice 30 inch Norge, I had a VERY nice Caloric gas stove, so we drove 8 hours, I stupidly loaded up the Norge without carefully checking it, left my nice Caloric, then drove 8 hours home, when I started cleaning it I found a quarter sized hole in the oven !! This just goes to show you really shouldnt trust anyone unless you REALLY know them...a mistake I wont make again!!!I had specifically asked the person if the oven had any rust and he assured me it didnt and was in GREAT condition, I trusted him , but you can bet I wont make that mistake again!!!!

Atta Boy!

Have had a few instances where one had to get eBay/Paypal involved and must say seller's ears prick up once those messages start arriving. Always got back my funds in full and was allowed to keep whatever item in question.

Many sellers now feel the ball is too far in the buyer's court but eBay doesn't play around when a case is opened. Because of their buyer's protection scheme they are on the hook if things/funds cannot be resolved from the seller, so you can bet they act quickly.

Glad things worked out well and hope you'll find the required parts.

You See This All The Time On eBay

Seller lists item as "new" in auction title but the copy has "used" checked off and or pictures show an item that obviously has seen some usage.

Will grant there is a differenced between "new old stock", "new" and "unused" but sellers should know the difference and or at least find out.

When one purchases an item that is described as NOS it better be just that; something that has never been used period. New and unused means pretty much the same in one's book.

New, nearly new, new but used and so forth cover a wide range of meanings and should be explained. One could have a new Mercedes-Benz car but unless it was loaded onto a flatbed truck and delivered to one's home and pushed into the garage it has been used at least once in driving from the dealership to one's home.

Same with appliances. If the thing is "new" but used for a short time or even once that is *not* the same as NOS. You see persons pulling this all over CL and other free advert listing sites. This is why it's very important to examine and test things before exchanging money.
