Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Ah, I feel you're pain. My neighborhood and myself have done the same over the years because it was a perpetual lineup roaming the neighborhood.

I might have an answer. I had people once proselytizing christianity. When I informed them about the no soliciting signs the group leader stated the definition of soliciting was the offering goods or services in exchange for monetary compensation while christ was for free. Therefore it didn't fall under solicitation.

My guess being that people twist/interpret the definition such that it doesn't apply to their specific agenda.

LOL

I had a no soliciting sign by my doorbell that mostly went ignored. Then put another on the door. A few would still bother me and then I would point to both no soliciting signs without saying a word, then stare at them for their next move if they didn't already turn around and leave.

Moved out to the country and haven't experienced one solicitor yet in 4.5 years. That's without a no solicitor sign. 'Round these parts, you can get shot for entering property without a call/email/text in advance. It's a beautiful, beautiful experience.

We seldom ever get any solicitors ringing our doorbell, I can’t remember the last time I saw one, and we live right in town in a 20 unit HOA that would be prime territory for solicitors.

When we do get a solicitor it’s almost always the Jehovah's Witness’s and I just politely tell them that I’m a Roman Catholic ( non practicing, but they don’t know that) and thank them for stopping by, but that I’m not in need of their information and wish them a nice day. That does the trick. I think that identifying as a Catholic marks us as the house of Satan to the JW’s.

Quite a few HOA developments now prohibit solicitation. Not a bad idea, really.

Dan, my HOA here in Florida has signs at the entrance but these guys ignore them. Now we are not a gated community so yes you can just enter. They usually try to harass you about 2-3 times a week. They say they are representing the Electric company or your neighbor recommended you. Now on my block nobody has solar panels and the ones in the development that do I do not know any of them. We have cameras so if they ring and knock on the door, I look at the screen and ignore them. If i'm outside I try avoid them. I have a plan to tell them they have 5 seconds to leave before I call 911. Telling them of the no solicitation rule, they just laugh and make all kinds of excuses.

"Telling them of the no solicitation rule, they just laugh and make all kinds of excuses."

Brandish a weapon and tell them to leave immeadilty.

I guarantee you they will.

It's your property, not theirs. They have no right to bother or harass you on it and you have the right to protect yourself...for now.

Brandish a weapon to a door to door salesperson in many jurisdictions and you may very likely be facing a visit from the police. How about you just don’t answer the door in the first place, or close it once they start their sales pitch?

There have been stories of innocent people being shot to death by crazy people wielding guns when they answer the door. Guns aren’t the answer.

It depends on the person and the situation. Some people see kindness as a weakness and will prey on that.

When contractors were building my 60x40 shop, I informed them to give me a call and let me know 10 minutes out so I can lock up the dogs in the house and open the gate for them.

Guy comes barging in my unlocked gate (I unlocked it and was using it that day) like he owned the place. I kindly reminded him that to call before so I lock the dogs up. 2nd day, same thing. After reminding him again, he laughed it off as if was a joke.

Third day, though about locking the but then decided to a lesson was needed. I waiting by the gate with a 12 gauge pump shotgun. He barged in again without calling and then literally crapped his pants after staring down the barrel. I told him the next he does that again, he'll leave in a fucking body bag. Guess what happened the next and following days? Yup, got a call 10 minutes out.

This POS had prison tattoos on his face. Those "types" of bottom feeders definitely see kindness as a weakness. Be aware of who you're dealing with.

“This POS had prison tattoos on his face. Those "types" of bottom feeders definitely see kindness as a weakness. Be aware of who you're dealing with.”

I wouldn’t have hired this “bottom feeder” in the first place and that would have avoided the problem of no call before arrival altogether. Forewarned is forearmed.

I did not hire nor talk to this individual, he was just one of the workers on the crew. All of the business end was dealt with the company owner. I did warn him of this individual after the incident. He said I scared the shit out of him and he was shaken up for a couple of days.

Treat people with respect from the beginning and this won't happen.

Unfortunately, some people just don’t have any common sense. Once and awhile, there’d be these ladies coming to my door from a certain religion (not going any further than that) and trying to give me their sales pitch so to speak. Pretended like I was interested (was NOT interested), listened to their sales pitch, closed the door. Unfortunately, I’ve cleaned my hands off of that stuff years ago since it’s nothing more than a distraction from real world problems, that’s what it is. Propaganda as well.

Don’t get me started about unsolicited calls, get SO MANY spam calls, unfortunately it’s caused me to miss phone calls from family members and such. Getting to the point where I am about to get an entirely new phone number because of that. Turns out, my former high school sold my information, quite livid that happened. Only thing I can do at this point is change my phone number and use various aliases on social media so no one can find out any additional information.
