Mine has the same caps...

I am going to see if I can buy them locally today. The caps had not leaked, but they could still be the problem.

I am amazed that I did not even notice the screws holding the front panel on before! I was planning to go in from the back. The screws are allen head cap screws, BTW, not Torx, but I was able to get them out with a Torx T10. I'll use an allen wrench to replace them, though.

Eegorr, let us know how it turns out. I received an email just yesterday from someone who resurrected their RR-9TA using the cap R&R procedure and it restored their machine to full glory.

Make that two of us!

I swapped the originals out for 50V caps today and she is back in running condition! I even figured out how to change the light bulb! Now I can take out our 5 year old GE to have it fixed.

BTW, according to my wife, this microwave came with a house she bought in the mid eighties. I'm glad she thought to take it with her when she moved, and she did not let her ex-husband take it when they split up!

I still would like to have a service manual and even a operation manual for this unit. Do you have any idea where I might be able to get copies of them?

RR 40?

Hi there; I just got an RR 40, but I can't quite date it; it has 2 dials but three coloured buttons; MFG code: P71100-4M Serial no: 054665299; any ideas?

Hi topspeed, Cory can probably date your RR4 for you..he has a website on them but can't find the link.
BTW I lived in New West for a number of years first in an apt on Agnes then in Sapperton. Worked in the now Waterfront Stn and on the Canadian and Princess Patricia to Alaska but that was about 30 years ago.

That is a beautiful machine you have there!

I would presume topspped that you have an RR4D. If I remember right, it was made from 74 through 76? Cory's mint machine is dated around Nov 74, the junkyard unit that was just picked up is from 75. Cory's website is down, but when it is up, can be found at eldocountry.com/. The Radarange information on a link on the upper left hand side.

An earlier post, on the below link, is a time table, w/ model info that we got from looking at the Amana repair manuals.

Cory will be out this weekend - even with the possibility of finding a unimatic tomorrow! let's keep our fingers crossed!

Hey there,

Attached is the RR link at my webpage. The 4D should be a pretty good machine. The D stands for auto-Defrost which will cycle on and off with an entertaining "clunk" noise. The 4D is also interesting in that the metal 'stirer' is motor driven, not air driven like the 4DW and later models. The screen in the door is still silver, not painted black, so it makes it difficult to see in at certain angles, but goes along with the machine look. Parts are still available too-

Amana RR-7

Wow! To think I'm not the only one whose pulse races when stumbling across vintage appliances. Just found myself an Amana Radarange RR-7; what a back-breaker carrying it in the house!

However, my favorite appliance is my mother's Frigidaire Imperial Stove: 40" wide, two ovens, 1 small, 1 large, at eye-level, pull out burners, absolutely great! You can see it in the kitchen of the old Bewitched TV series.

Hi Rita, post us a pic of your "new" RR7 when you get it set up and don't forget to take your camera to moms for a picture of her stove. Can you check the back of the Amana for a serial number and manufacturers date
