Your Tubs:
My grandmother had a pair of these, just like yours. Hers still had the fitted top with them; the top made the tubs serve as extra workspace when it was in place.
These were used for soaking and for hand laundry. My grandmother had long since stopped using hers for laundry purposes by the time I came along; they were at one end of her kitchen, being used to store seldom-used kitchen items.
Yours appear to have their original paint still on them. Whatever you do, do NOT repaint them; they're worth more just as they are, believe it or not. My grandmother's pair had been repainted numerous times.
