I Guess That Now I'm Out of the Blackstone Business....

I just sold off the vast majority of my remaining Blackstone stuff today. Included were the last 350 complete machine (which my mother had in daily use); along with matching gas dryer. All sorts of parts are now gone. Whatever I have left will probably go to the junkyard real soon, after I separate the metals.

I just needed the room in my cellar, and it didn't make sense to sell piece-by-piece. There is now a new supplier for Blackstone items on this forum. Downsizing is inevitable once you realize just how much inventory has to be removed from a store.

However, I'll still be around the club for any questions.

I've enjoyed learning about Blackstones from you, Fred. They seem to have been wonderful machines. And it's good to know your stock of parts is still in the club.

Fred, are you feeling the "Empty Nest Syndrome" now? I am sure the business and all of the parts were a strong link to your father and your family's history. You have done your best to acquaint others with the technology of Blackstone machines. That made you a good guardian of your father's legacy and of Blackstone's. Thank you for all you have done to make the machines, parts, literature and your own personal knowledge available to so many. Tom

For teaching me about the V-shape installation of the Blackstone belt. Once I "got" it, the operation was a piece of cake. Happy to hear you're staying around and congratulations on your retirement. You know what they say: Work is highly over-rated. ;->

I'm sure it was sad to see everything heading out with John but you can take pride in all the machines and memories that are still running strong thanks to you! The parts you held on to and now have passed on to another caretaker will keep our Blackstones going for many years to come.

One remaining item that might be of interest is a Blackstone ironer. Matches the 250 model. If anyone is interested, I could get photos. Otherwise, I'll try putting it on local Craigslist.

I've spent the last couple of days draining oil from Blackstone transmissions, trying not to have an oil spill in my backyard. Successful so far. Few more to go before I make the trip to the junkyard. Fortunately, no rain in the forecast.

BLACKSTONE PARTS

We made it home safely with the washer&dryer and all the parts. we got home about 9;15 pm Jason came over and helped Smity and I unload all the parts they are all safely in the warehouse. Thanks again Fred for all your help moving and loading all those parts. I rented a new Chevy full size van for the trip this is the second Chevy we have rented in the last few months and its a very impressive machine. Between the four wheel disk brakes the six speed trans and the 4.8 liter en-gene it really handles a heavy load, a think we had nearly a full ton in it.

That's so much much work John! I'm glad to hear that all that Blackstone stuff went to good hands you must be exhausted though. My truck recently blew it's (patched together) clutch cylinder after the Wisconsin trip. I should have it back in arrears in a couple of weeks. I love appliance road trips, they're even better when you have someone to go with. I couldn't drag any of my friends on a washer expedition if I paid them (haven't tried that yet...). You'll have to send me some pics or something of the Blackstones, I'm not at all familiar with them.
