Appraised Value?

Hehehe. ("we looked on the internets and saw some fridges that looked like this one")

There are a couple of very nice units on the Omaha C/L that have been advertised on-and-off for nearly a year now - that haven't been painted with a spray-can. People are amusing!

.....and I thought the only international harvesters around were trucks. I wonder if there is a connection between the two?

Yes there is. IH also had a line of refrigeration equipment, such as refrigerators, milk coolers etc., all aimed at their primary market, the farmer. IH wanted to try and capitalize on the fact that more and more farms were equipped with electricity, and thus expand their consumer base. IH did and still does manufacture farm equipment such as tractors, balers, combines, and many other types of farm machinery.

An elderly couple whom I helped move a few years ago still had their 1st fridge, a '48 IH, with the freezer on the bottom. The only thing wrong was the refrigerator door seal. This was before I knew of this site. Had I known then what I know now, that baby would have come home with me. The house was demolished to make room for a new bank building, and all the appliances were picked up by our electric utility for $150. To the krusher they went, sniffsniff.

IH merged with Case in 1985 and formed Case IH. They in turn merged with New Holland Ag in 1999 to form CNH Global. (New Holland made farm implements, which were sold at Ford tractor dealers. Ford later bought them, then sold the controlling interest to Fiat.) So if you go looking at compact tractors, as we did a few years ago, Case, New Holland, Farmall are the same. Just the price and colors are different. Case IH tractors are the big ones, the kind that big farms use.
