Working my way through the house doing my fall cleaning,  got to my bedroom today and tossed the pillows in the wash.  I always check the ticking and make sure it's in good enough shape to survive the washing and drying.

Tossed 3 pillows in the Duet, set it of steam and sanitize cycle - took 2 1/2 hours but they came out fine.

Tossed them in the dryer with a couple of tennis balls as I usually do, set it for 99 minutes, then another 90.  Went to take them out and what do I find --- a mass of feathers.

Apparently  the stitching on the seam of one of the pillows decide it had enough and gave out.  About a 3" opening.  What a mess to clean out.  Only about 15% of the feathers came out of the offending pillow, but it looked like a sea of feathers in the dryer.  Replaced most of them in the casing, will sew it up later.  Vacuumed out the remaining feathers, cleaned out the lint filer area what a pain, but I do have nice fresh pillows to sleep on...

Lucky it came apart in the dryer, not the washer! I've had a feather pillow come apart in the washer once, What a mess! Happened about 8 years ago in a Whirlpool DD washer, clogged the pump and had to bail soggy feathers out of the washer. At least yours were dry so they could be vacuumed. Glad the pillow was salvageable!
