I hate when you love a pouduct and the company changes the scent!!

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

It seems that like in the last year mfgs have been introducing and then pulling a lot of product variants. If you find something you really like you should stock up because it may not be on the market very long. Gain with Baking Soda was one of those.

Downy!

I was in big lots today and they have a ton of Downy april fresh also tons of cascade and cascade complet!! Call me krazy but I just bought 7 bottles of downy!! lol I love this scent.

I loved the original scent of Cascade. I would stand with my nose at the vent of the dishwasher through most of the cycle. Ok I was like nine, but I loved the smell.

I also liked the Electro-sol chlorine smell, but I love bleach so go figure. In any case both fragrences are gone.

Endless versions of Tide detergent appear and disappear from store shelves. Consumer Reports now rates regular liquid Tide 2X With Dawn Stainscrubbers as a top pick. (This is because Tide with Bleach Alternative's formula has changed, and has since been downgraded.)

Anyway, I can't find Tide With Dawn Stainscrubbers anywhere on store shelves. I finally just ordered a case (4 bottles) from an online source a few weeks ago. It does a great job in the top-loader.

But, come one, P&G: How about a very low-sudsing/clean-rinsing version of Tide and Tide HE. Rather than 30 versions of variously-scented products, do something that will make a difference in actual performance.

Allen - Whirlcool,

Gain with Baking Soda is still on their website, and I'm pretty sure it's on the shelves at one of the stores here. There is even a powder version of it.

There are so many detergent products now and in so many sizes that a store couldn't keep them all (can you imagine how huge the aisle would be? That'd be FUN to see). I'm betting that unless the baking soda variant is just simply on it's way out and not off the site yet, that your store(s) decided not to carry it.

We have two grocery store chains here that go head to head in Charlotte in several key areas, and other than the usual staple detergents like liquid Tide in a couple variants, the big sellers of Gain, etc. there is almost no overlap on what the two stores carry. One store has Fresh Start, Trend, Sun, most of the formulations of Cheer, etc. while the other has more powders and almost all the FABs, most Gain products, and I think almost everything Tide.

It's kinda fun at times to visit the stores just to paruse the detergent aisles!

How about a store that sells nothing but laundry detergent? (And, I suppose, associated products like softener, dryer sheets, etc.)

One night, I saw one of my favorite cashiers at the grocery store, and mentioned casually the time I'd spent browsing the detergent aisle. Choosing "what next?" detergent.

She thought I was crazy.

I may have to order online as well. Gain with Baking Soda powder was on the shelves here for about a month. Then it disappeared. A few weeks ago the liquid version came back. But we don't like liquid detergents.
We really liked this version of Gain. Almost as much as the original version smelled back in 1972!

We have them, well, almost have them as they sell house cleaning products and similar :) I shop most of the time there for detergent because they have the biggest variety and the prices are fair. The chain is called "acqua e sapone" that translates into "water and soap" :)

What I don't understand is....

If you look at Tide's website, there are like 16 versions of tide, just in liquid alone. Years ago,(1970's) There was Tide, plain and simple and did a great job. That's all my mother used (well, occasionally a box of cheer). Why does the public need 16 different varients? Instead of all of these, they should go back to basics. Tide, Cheer, Gain, Oxyadol, Bold and Dash. I LOVED Dash when I moved out on my own. So for me, instead of feeding the P&G horse, I have discoved Great Value Detergent with Purex Softener. The Purex softner (mountain breeze) kinda reminds me of Sta-Puf. Gawd I miss Sta-Puf. I have also found the Great Value Dishwasher Detergent works great in my Bosch dishwasher. I will try the Wisk again, but miss it being that Thick Blue liquid is was back then with the great scent. My Mom did always keep a bottle of that on her shelf in the laundry room for really dirty jeans us kids would produce from playing outside all the time. Not to mention the price that they want for Tide now. I was a Publix here yester and it was on sale for $10.99!!!--%11 for a 100oz bottle or 80 load poweder. TOO STEAP FOR MY BLOOD.[this post was last edited: 8/3/2010-15:24]

Right there with you... brother!

I completely agree. Drop the flavor of the week bull***t and get back to basics!

I have given up on fabric softener, and big brand detergent since it can't keep itself the same smell and what not.

I use Norwex powdered detergent, and I only need 1tsp of it.. YEs.. teaspoon! The bag last us a year!

the product has no scent, and I now can't stand being near people who does use fabric softener like Downy.
